my bar band covers "can't get enough" by bad company (as does everyone else i'm sure).

alright, recall the very end of the song, after the solo closes. Paul Rodgers does this little "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHH oo OO oooooo", or something like it. cant really type it out.

my question is, is it cheesy for a cover band singer to do this also? i'll confess, i'm said singer, and sometimes when im a bit buzzed, i like to let loose and flow me out some soul. but i got to thinking if maybe its pushing the envelope a bit to do that at the end like in the bad co. recording.

It all depends on the situation, if you've got an appreciative crowd and they're digging what you're doing than go for it.

I share alot of singing duties in our group and I am much more comfortable throwing out something like that than I am at talking between songs.

Sing it how you feel it is always best in my opinion regardless of how it was done in the recording. But if it sounds cheesy use your own judgement.

I say put your own spin on it. The band I used to be in only played a few songs that were real close to the original. The rest had our stamp on it. We had a real different version of Dirty Deeds.

I'm with yoda. Take that song, and add yourself to it; a delightful spin, so to speak. That's what I do whenever I'm playing somebody's song, I make it obvious it's theirs, but I add some of my personality to it. Just do what feels right. :]

I would agree cheese but sometimes depending on a crowd that works too. Go for it if the crowd is in the mood. I did some funny screamo/adlibs to some folk songs and was asked to do that every time after.
