Eighteen years ago today, Freddie Mercury died of the HIV/AIDS virus. He passed on at 7:00 P.M. in peace at his home in Kensington, England, with his loved ones surrounding him. He was only fourty-five years old.

May you rest in peace, love, joy, harmony, and music, Freddie. You are, and always will be, loved. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

+1 my 6 string co-hort.

You know yourself that it was Queen that turned me on as a child. Can't believe our other idol who was humbled to play at his tribute concert (Axl) is now 2 years older, almost 3, than Freddy when he went on to live forever.

Legends never die and Freddy has brought more love and emotion to this world since his passing than most of us have while of this world.

God bless FM. We love you and always will. Thank you for making the dark days in my life that much brighter.

CCx

I know, I love Freddie. :D

And Queen in general is just the best. I fell in love with them on me and my sis' ninth birthday--yeah, we're fraternal twins, in case anyone's wondering.

THE song that brings me to tears is "In My Defence"(Yes, that IS how it's spelled.). How Freddie sings that song--with such passion, such intensity--it just makes me bawl my eyes out. :P

My top five favorite Queen songs are, in no particular order:

1. "Doing All Right"
2. "It's Late"
3. "Somebody to Love"
4. "One Vision"
5. "Las Palabras de Amor (The Words of Love)"

I remember getting the Live Aid dvd set when it came out a few years ago and watching in awe as Freddie Mercury just dominated that entire crowd. He had every single one of them in the palm of his hand.

Wow... 18 years?!?

Hard to believe he's
been gone that long.

18 years is about as long as Queen
existed after their first record, no?

Man... as David St. Hubbins once said: "Too much f*cking perspective."

Freddie owned every stage he walked out onto.

He's my "fantasy band" frontman for sure.

Sadly missed - but he did leave us a lot of good music to help us cope with the loss!

Cheers - C

I still remember hearing of his passing just shortly after it happened. Another one who left too soon.
