Ok, here we go guys, you are in a band you have 2 guitarists what do you prefer to play> Lead or Rhythm?

Me..I love playing Rhythm over lead...I think maybe 3 or 4 songs in a show I will play lead the rest I love to just rock out on rhythm...lets hear your preferences.

Rhythm. I'm a huge Keef and Izzy fan. I actually do enjoy it more, the subtleties, the ripping etc, its kinda like you are conducting the rest of the band when done right.

I can always dream about being in a band but I'd play rhythm and get a good groove started and just let the other guy go at it

Whew...I felt like I was the only one who felt this way..:) I have always been in bands where the other guitarists hated playing rhythm...me I always hated playing lead...so I guess if we started a band then we would have one killer lead section!!!!

I can really dig a good rhythm, but I would have to say lead, 100%. :]

You really are my twin bro. He was the beating heart man. Best rhythm player ever, hands down, so different than Slash. His solo work is some of my favorite albums ever. Pure gold!

I like switching back and forth with the other guitar player. In my band I play lead on some songs, and the other guitarist plays lead on others. He's more of a rock/metal guitarist, so he takes those songs and I'm more of a rock/blues guitarist so I take the songs that are more suited to my style.

I'm more comfortable with chords so rhythm it is.

I hear that. Izzy was the only one that could control Axl, once he left Slash and Duff were too wasted to even notice Axl was bein a tool. They were all a5shol3s to some degree but together it was magic imo.

I like both equally and still prefer both equally. With a two guitarist band, when the other guitarist is equally capable, the exchanges are fantastic, you learn stuff from the other guitarist and after a while, the two of you form some kind of mental wavelength link which allows the both of you to not only play with some kind of sixth sense about and each other but it actually makes the both of you sound better than if either one of you was there alone. Of course, that makes the band sound all the better and that's what it's all about.

Is there another instrument where we'd even ask the question?

"Are you a rhythm or lead keyboard player...?"

Cheers - C
