I don't think anyone should buy a guitar just on someone else's say so.....but I also think it's nice to get some ideas and input from people.

I've never bought guitar on what someone has said, but I've used this forum to get input on certain products from people who may have already tried the product. Doesn't mean I'm going to buy it, due to what someone says.......but it gives me things to think about.

I was once thinking of refretting a guitar with Stainless Steel frets. I personally knew no one who has a guitar with them, so I came to the forum to maybe find some people who have experience with them. I wanted to know about how they wear and if there was any sound change. Sure enough, some people answered my post and told me their experiences. A big help for me, for when I decide to refret one of my guitars that's coming due. At least I can weigh the information to maybe help me to come to a decision.

Another time.....I was looking for some type of seat to use to play guitar (for practice and gigs), and was even looking at bar stool-type guitar seat. Well.....some people came on to give me the idea of using a drummer's throne, which is adjustable and made for comfort, due to drummers sitting all the time, while playing. I slapped myself on the forehead, and thought, "why didn't you think of that, dummy!". On that case, I ended up buying a drummer's throne and have lived "happily ever after" on that one.

Yet another time, I was looking at finding a small, compact guitar stand, that could be easily taken to Gigs. Someone suggested a Hercules stand, that folded up easily, and could be carried in a small accessory bag. I bought it, and once again I lived "happily ever after".

So.......I guess I'm saying........don't buy a guitar just because someone says it's their favorite........but you often get a lot of input, that will help you make that final decision.

What's wrong with asking other people for their opinion? Expecially if they have more experience and a better understanding of fender guitars? I joined this forum to learn from the knowledge of others, and have learned a tremendous amount. This includes reading posts inquiring about a potential new guitar purchase.
Buying a new guitar can be a daunting task when given the multitude of choices available today. And if you have limited experience with Fender guitars you might not understand all the options.

There's nothing wrong with asking opinions....this was more aimed at people who post "should I buy a $6000 CS guitar or a $400 import?" I have a tough time believe that person is really going to buy either guitar.
