Carlos Vamos.
Plays little wing better than hendrix. Also he's fairly unkown. You can generaly catch him busking around Amsterdam. Best thing out of Holland since Golden Earing.

Thanks for posting Carlos Vamos's video. That guy is awesome.... Not necessarily better, but a refreshing interpretation of Hendrix's Little Wing.

Very nice, see I dig some classical type/inspired music like this as well. I guess you would consider this classical inspired right? Either way it is killer and I will have to download some of this guy asap, THANKS!

My neighbor, Jack Pearson. Recording artist, session musician, toured with the Allman Brothers for 3 or 4 years.

I deliberately picked one of his understated videos. Man is a MASTER.

Anybody remember Frank Marino of Mahogany Rush? One of my all time favorites.

I think this thread is going the wrong way as a lot of very well known and famous players are being mentioned. I like that Martian listed himself because he was serious and I believe him.lol But I would rather hear guys mentioned who are out there and may be recording but I never heard of to make this fair.

I just caught Mayer doing the last three songs from a show on Fuse live from NY. I will admit I enjoyed it and he sounded in fine voice and is a really good rhythm player. After the show they had a sit down with him and asked him about his fame as a singer songwriter, shred guitar master? comedian and celebrity. Now I will go with 3 out of the 4 but shred guitar master. I really would like to know where this is coming from. If maybe they would write more about him as being a good singer songwriter with very capable playing skills than a guitar God I would enjoy what I hear from him more. The way he ended the show was on such a mellow note, his next to last song which was a nice acoustic song and then he finished by strapping on an SG and I was like OK John leave em on a high note and he played some new song called Friends, Lovers or Nothing which was a ver mellow song again and the solo was one bar of the melody. Not the way I am used to an act ending a show.

That was my goal, to find out about some unknown artists or guys who hadn't been in the spotlight so much. I guess everyone has a different opinion of "unknown" and thats ok, so far it has been a pretty good discussion and I have found out about 2-3 guitarists who are now added to my ipod that i didnt know about before 8)

I just saw these guys last night (opening for Charlie Musselwhite): John Gaar & the Hopeful Souls. I'd rather listen to this guy than Mayer. 8)
