I love the bass! Nice looking guitar! I have never thought about fretless basses before. You made me think.

I guess I'm not a Purist then because I like many different well made brand Guitars. I am kind of puzzled by saying to be a Fender purist you have a desire to own only Fender when in fact Fender today is not the same as in the past. Think about it some Purist may think that would have to be G&L after 1970 when Leo started the company which was 5 years after selling Fender to CBS.

Just thinking about such gobbleygook

You are right! I thought about it too. And I do like G&L too. I guess everything that Leo Fender got his hands into gave something great back! I guess the sound, the tone of Fender guitars, old Rhodes pianos and amplifiers is what it's all about for me. And G&L have very much in common with Fender istruments today. The sound! That familiar sound, great tone! I read somewhere just recently that G&L represents what Fender might have been today if Leo Fender had stayed in the company.
I like different brands too, but I always come back to Fender. It works for me. I hope I answered some of your questions.

PS I love Pat Metheny guitar style and music. He used to play Gibson 175 if I remember correctly, now he has his own signature Ibanez guitar, and he said that he never really liked Fenders because whenever he'd pick one up, it would feel as a foreign object to him.
So, I guess I feel the same about other guitars. They are excellent and all, it just doesn't seem and feel right to me. Not because of the name, but the overall feeling of the instrument.
I played Ibanez Artist series the other day, and the tone blew my mind, the sustain was incredible, but it just didn't feel right. It was kind of... uncomfortable. So I think Fender is perfect for me. I have what works for me, and my own specs and desires, but I'm mostly satisfied with a Fender in my hands.

I have played and owned many guitars over the years and the Fender and Squier guitars are the ones I have come back to time after time. As someone else has mentioned on this Forum, "Nothing beats a Stratocaster nicely tweaked."
