I just finished revamping my room (it had basically been the same since I was six) and I'm thinking about buying some wall hangers for my guitars and putting a few of them on display. My only concern is how that will effect the life of the strings. Obviously, leaving them up there will cause the strings to get dusty and go dead quicker. Would wiping the strings down everyday keep the strings as fresh as they'd be if the guitar were stored in a case? For those of you who keep your guitars up on the wall, what do you do?

IMHO dusting my wall hung guitars (etc), is a small price to pay for the delight of seeing them all the time. Strings are cheap. They don't last forever, (even in a case).

Just wipe them down more often. At least you are safe in Texas to hang them on the wall with no negative effects from the weather. In colder climates the guitars are cooler on the side nearest the wall which can cause warpage and other problems.

Gridlok, is that a Jello-mold hanging to the left of your guitars?
"Cuase you don't wanna hang 'em next to the stove.

Especially if you do a lot of stir-fry.

Ha ha ha! Jello mold. That's funny. (It's actually a sculpture we picked up in Baja. Heh. And it's not the kitchen - its a sun room, or as we say "solarium".

The five string long neck I finally took off the wall, dissassembled, cleaned and put new strings on - the first in about 30 years. Then I played it, (not too well), and hung it back on the wall. It's OK. Don't be afraid.

Jello mold.

Peace, Gridlok
