I'm looking for an affordable electric but i want it to be good enought to perform with. The Squire Tele is my first choice but there's not enough options with them. What do you think of this? I know i'd have to buy it without trying and i don't like to do that but this is what i'm looking for. If anyone has something better please advise. I'm trying to keep it under $300.

I'm very suspicious of instruments that cost too little. My son got a $100 acoustic guitar and it's a piece of junk. Ultimately a waste of money and time.

My recommendation is to consider the Mexican made Stratocaster. They are excellent. They cost more than you want to spend, unless you can find a good used one. My son has one and it's fabulous. It stays in tune. Sounds good. There is precious little difference between it and the American Strat.

I agree with Rudy. The Mexican Fenders are a very good deal. I've used several, 2 Strats and a Tele, and like them all. For the money they can't be beat.

I have a Mexican Tele and it is an excellent guitar. One of the best in my inventory!!! I can't find a single thing bad on this guitar. The sound is to die for and I can go from Twang to a nice edgy bite in a heartbeat!!!

6twang, Rudy makes a good point, I like the 'made in Mexico Fenders' too. Prices are going down, if you can hold out a little while. I played a red Squire Tele with the mirrored pickguard at Division Gold (my favorite pawnshop) two days ago. $110. and John the owner of the shop is a pretty generous guy overall (I know its hard to believe because most pawnshop guys are the opposite of generous). I would play that on stage in a Chicago minute. I don't think he has put it on e-bay, its sitting in the corner behind the glass where he is in the shop. If I had a little Lear or Gulfstream I would fly it to you Bro. You are going to get a good guitar for a reasonable price. My guess is after the holidays its going to get interesting to say the least.

The only guitars I have played from the Rondo website are the Agile Al series. They are great Les Paul copies and way better than Epiphone LP's.

I would say go for a Squier Vintage Modified or Classic Vibe, you can definitely find one of those for $300 or less if you don't mind buying one used. They, in my opinion, would be good enough to gig with and are very quality instruments. Another thing to keep in mind, your amp. Not sure what you have but I top notch axe will only play as nicely as what you are playing it through in many cases.

+1 on the Classic Vibe Tele. A friend of mine bought one about a month ago and we tried it against all the other tele's in the store and the Vibe was just as good if not better than most of them. It's just a little out of your price range at $350 but I think you'll be more than happy with it.

Thanks for the replys and i will more than likely go with the Squire. I just wanted something with P90's. What yall think of an Affinity Squire with P rails? Or is it even possible to swap the pickups without spending too much?

I'm in agreement with everyone else here. My MIM guitar is phenominal, I'd hold out a bit more, then get the Mexican. :]

Black Friday is coming -- take advantage of it (you will be able to get at least 15% off of current prices ... maybe even more)

or spend $350 on a vintage modifed or classic vibe, pocket the remaining 150 or use it for your P-90/p-rails.

I don't know if they are deleting some of the posts or not but the SX guitars are pretty decent. The necks are a little chunky, C shaped, but they play decent. The pups are good, not great but decent. Fretwork is good to great on these as well. A new set of strings and a good set up and you would be happy with that guitar. I have one SX guitar and a couple Agile guitars. Rondo is a good site to get guitars.

Which Agile's do you have? I sold my AL-3000 and I miss sometimes, but I had to make room for my new Telecaster. Agreed Rondo and the SX's aren't bad at all. I'd still rather have a Squier VM or CV but if the budget is tight the SX's are a solid choice.

As 01GT said, wait till black friday to see if there are any deals. also, as said before, try the mexican strat/tele. You could probably get one used for around 300-350 range. Great guitars. If you had a blind fold on and played a mexi compared to an american, 9 times out of ten you wouldnt be able to tell the difference.
