I'm with you BigJay. I liked those games when they first came out and they were fun to play just to hear the music but now i'd rather be playing the real thing. They are good games for kids and adults to boost thier intrest in music and learning a real instrument. I really didn't get very serious about playing my guitar until i got tired of the 5 button shuffle on the plastic guitar. Now i have my own songs to screw up on but i get alot more satisfaction from that.

I hate the new Band Hero commercial, because all the guys are in their underwear, socks, and a shirt, but then Taylor Swift gets to be fully dressed? I think thats sexist...

I can't stand playing either. But I like to listen to it and watch my kids do it. It blows my mind now that my 15-year-old daughter knows who Steve Vai is.

I can't speak for anyone else but Rockband/Guitar Hero is infectious at times, especially when you get a group of friends together. It's good clean fun. Simply though, Rockband/Guitar Hero has personally broadened my musical spectrum. I listen to bands/guitarists I never had interest in before.

I despise all those games. One, I suck at them. Two, hearing kids talk about how much they love bands like Guns N' Roses, but can only name Sweet Child O' Mine annoys the hell out of me. Three, I hate the graphics and controls.

Oh, and The Beatles Rockband is awful. I don't know what self respecting Beatles fan would ever buy that, thinking it's "awesome"...

That's just me. :]

I have never played or had any interest in playing any of those games.

I am with you BigJay. Although I do not own such a game, it never appealed to me to want one.

You guys are #$@*&!% crazy. I love rockband. Such a great party game, love getting shithoused and having fun with the games, it's like karaoke for a whole band. And everyone can get involved. We've got like 600 songs for RB2.

And the Beatles rockband is phenomenal, Harmonix made the Baeatles dreamscapes and feel so strong and so good. And there are so many cool bnonuses, so muh awesome footage and pictures and stories, any Beatle fan should be proud to wo it. I am.

And I hate the arguments that so many old codgers say the whole "why dont you play a real instrument instead? 1-Fuck you I do, and 2-it's a completley different kind of experience. It's like even if I didn't, would you tell someone who loves Madden they should go play in the NFL for real? no. Would you tell someone who loves Grand Theft Auto to go steal cars and join the mob? No. Would you tell someone who likes Burnout to go start drag racing? no. They are totally different experiences.

These games are doing more for breeding new musicians anyways than anything I've seen since I've been playing.
