It's okay to admit it, we won't laugh :P I've heard some decent singers in karaoke lounges, in fact, I have a female singer that does an occasional function-type gig with me that I *discovered* doing karaoke in the lounge of a reputable restaurant.

I see a lot of pubs/bars are now doing "trivia" contests on weeknights. It seems that between karaoke, darts and trivia, a lot of places only want live music on weekends these days.

My brother and a friend has their own company, and had a few lounges they did a few nights a week at.

I am a pretty bad singer but I'll admit that I have gone up after a few wobbly pops. I'll say this: If you can get up and sing, as badly as I do, in front of people, it is a piece of cake to play guitar live.

It's a pretty low pressure way to shake the butterflies for performing live. Unless you're one of those people who think they are the next undiscovered Elvis or Gladys Knight.

I used to go every weds night when I was living in Lima, it was a lot of fun and a great way to meet Peruanas! Nothing better than a gringo singing karaoke.

I love it, it's a great laugh when you have about 20 beers in you!

Whenever I'm in Las Vegas, I always hit the karaoke bar in the Ellis Island Casino -- best in town!

My specialty: "Cross-Eyed Mary" by Jethro Tull. 8)

I dont think I could get that drunk. Hey I have walked in and heard many a bad singer and clapped because I get what it is all about. But personally I feel I would have every cat in the area crying in.

Hey Mike,
yes im guilty too..I went to Vegas and sang at the Imperial casino. My brother even went as far as to buy the DVD of it. I have sang at a few in KC, i do consider myself an ok singer...but to do it front of a real(and sober) audience would probably be a different experience altogether. I really enjoy doing it, but i do have to partake a wee bit o th liquid courage  I havent been in years now, probably to the delight of many ears.....
