Hello well this is really just random thoughts

ok well what im wondering is what makes an amazing guitar player
i know practice but even then some guitar players are just so skilled so innovative there are those that are just really talented both technically good and emotionally great. look at Jimi Hendrix changed guitar the way it was looked at and then theres players that have so much soul for their music you can feel it when you just listen to a song.. what im wonder is all this greatness something that you are some how born with and is discovered if the person plays an insturnment or is that true amount of skill/talent something you can learn? are all people capable of such finese on the guitar!? Ugh i hope one day i can even come close to the amount of soul some players have. I can only hope!

Part of its gear, which you can buy...

Much of it is practice, which you can do...

And another part of what makes people stand out more than others is their heart, mind, and soul...which is usually often imitated, but never duplicated, by others...at least thats how I see it...

What makes an amazing guitar player?
All it takes is a good listener who stops by, listens for a second, and says to someone nearby "That guitarist is amazing!" Voila, amazing guitar player ^^

I should add that if you're not playing to have fun, or having fun while playing, then don't do it. Don't do it cause you want to be better or as good as someone else. Do it cause its fun, and don't worry about being good, technical, or innovative...do what you want to do because you want to do it and because its fun doing it, or else why do it? But thats just my thoughts on it...

What makes a great guitarist?

Starting by not thinking of yourself as a great guitarist. Having a good ear. Having good meter. Trying to fit in with the others and with the song rather than showboating and trying top force them to work around you. Not trying to play beyond your ability. Keeping it simple enough that you can do it correctly and cleanly rather than playing a complicated part above your skill level and sounding like crap because you can't pull it off. Humility, generosity and cooperation.

... to name a few.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Yes hard work and serious wood shedding will definitely pay off in in the end. But there is that one little factor that a lot of people do not realize and it is called talent. The true cold facts are a very small percent are blessed with that little bit of extra talent. Michael Phelps beat all those great swimmers in the world. Why? He was just blessed with a little bit more talent. Some guys are major league ball players and then there are Hall of Famers. Again that little bit of extra talent.

Now some guys have talent and just coast while others push it to the tenth degree. You ever know someone that plays and things just come to them effortlessly while you can get there but you really have to push the envelope. This is a true fact and I had read an interview with Steve Morse who summed it up that very way. There are a lot of really good or even great players and then there is that very small club for the very special which might make up 1%.
