Intro:
I now I am not left winged opinion kind a guy and understand the business but c'mon are things realy this bad.

story:
I took my older child to the Santa Claus parade yesterday. It is the first time for both of us. What a disaster that was, all the floats are sponsored by the large corporations and were all displaying themselves as the shameless plug. What a sales advertizing this is.
Coca Cola with theit polar bears, McDonalds with Ronald, ToysRus with their load of sh.. pile of junk etc.

This is all retarded it looked like two hour long commercial for their product and at the end there was a Santa that passed by in 15 sec. Can we have a parade that is sponsored by business for the sake of parade that kids enjoy through donation of time and money to have kids enjoy Santa and christmass holyday spirit. Christmass can be displayed in beautiful art form rather than product placement.

Is it the same in your town/country?

Thanks for enduring this rant.

My guess is the advertisement money paid for the parade, unless it was funded by taxpayer dollars?

Get corporate sponsors, get criticism. Use public/taxpayer money, get criticism...D*mned if they do or if they don't...Pretty much everything has changed since product placement started going crazy in the 90s...

wait a minute, isnt the point of a parade to advertise something? i.e. the circus coming to town, sports teams that win a championship.....

Yeah, usually if its not a city, county, or state parade, its corporately sponsored...Now that I think about it, Macys has been sponsooring parades for how long, and a large percentage of the floats/attractions advertise or showcase something, unless its a high school band usually...

Seems to me that is what Christmas has become. All year you earn enough to cover your business expenses and Christmas time you need to make your profit. China's favorite Holliday because we sure don't make much of whats being sold.

Plus think about it how many celebrate Christmas and also celebrate Christ the rest of the year?

Probably all began many years ago with the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade.
