Different people prefer different things, it's stupid to rag on anyone's instrument choice.

Unless they play PRS. Nickelback and Creed use PRS and those to bands may be the worst things to ever happen to rock music.

I've been getting some flak from some about having a Fender Squier or Fender in general in favor of a Gibson. What's the real difference between a Fender and a Gibson guitar (besides the name)?

Has anyone ever had a Gibson and switched to Fender or vice versa?

Just curious. Don't know what to say to this person since I don't know much about Gibsons. All I know is that I love my Fender.

I like to think of it sometimes as a Fender is a Viper and a Gibson a Maserati. The Gibson may be a little more expensive, no matter, no one wants to be in an acceleration contest with a Viper, no one. Enjoy your Fender guitar.

Try them both. For me it is the sonic difference between the 2. Keep in mind, 2 different guitars of the same make and model will have completely different voices. That is part of the magic of guitars!! Then comes playability. I find the nut width of a Strat to feel closer. And the radius of the fret board to be rounder. The Gibsons are just the opposite. Gibsons have a flatter radius of the fret board.
But in the end, it is what you want to sound like and what you are comfortable playing. Both companies build some of the best guitars on the planet. Anyone who tells you otherwise, does not have a clue.
