To those who presume to criticize...................
I think opinions are pretty much like anal orfices. Everyone has one, and a lot of them need a good scrubbing. As long as people show up to pay to watch their shows, they must be doing something right. What gives ANYONE the right to speak ill of someone who is doing what they love? Makes me think that if more people would mind their own business, more people would be able to get along. It's kind of like "let's make a rule that because you don't like someones looks, or age , or some other trivial bullshit, they should give up performing." Your age and lack of maturity are showing.......
How about if because someone don't like you, you have to surrender your guitar and amp ( or in some cases, your Guitar Hero game)
How about this------these people are all part of a group that pioneered developement of our music, our instruments. and inspired most of us to do what we do. Les Paul played right up till a couple of days before he passed away. He was nowhere close to being at his peak, but I'd wager he could still have gone head to head with ninty-five percent of the guys posting on this forum, maybe more. Of course I don't believe he was very good at Play Station......I may be wrong.
There are many performers working that I do not particularly care for, but I still give tnem the due respect for their talent. Most of them are on a stage or in a concert hall while we are .............here.

Get over yourself. :!:

Well there was a big difference in the Stones from the Steel Wheels tour to the gridges to Babylon and if you saw both you saw two different bands as the killed on the SWT and were dreadful on BTB. But then again they were dreadful on the tour they did behind the live album that they made a movie of so it depends on which Stones show up. But if Charlie Watts has called it a day I would not say you are even seeing the Stones anymore.

McCartney is nearing 70 but could still lay to waste guys young enough to be his grand kids.

I think Vanhalen will come out with an album that will show Eddie is still the guitar God that always blew my mind even if Daves voice is just about shot.

And for anyone to even mention Beck hanging it up is blasphemy. As Jeff does not rely on vocals and can continue to embarrass guys till he is 90.

I say let them all play that want to and are able regardless of thier age or financial status. Without some of the older bands that are still gigging what would music turn to. The newer bands that are out there today couldn't possibly entertain the whole population. Even the bands that are still going with different members should keep doing what they love. It doesn't matter who is in the band now compared to when they started as long as the music is still good. I sure would hate it if someone told me i had to stop doing something i loved to do. Old guys Rock therefore let them rock even if they have to do it in a chair.

I think David Lee Roth should retire. When you release a version of "Jump" (a song he didn't like to begin with. "People come to see you play the guitar Eddie") that includes violin and ukele and you are to old to jump yourself it is time to quit.

I saw Paul at Citi Field in July and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to in my life. The man played and sang for close to 3 hours songs that are in a league of their own. If you enjoy the artist and that
artist still wants to perform live later on in his/her career , then count that as a BIG blessing. There are many musicians I wish were still alive that I could see today and that I could take my kids to see and hear - Rory Gallagher, Jimi Hendrix, Muddy Waters, etc. ,etc. !!!!

Rod Stewart seems exhausted. Maybe not retire so much as take a break.

The Stones should quit and Keef should go out alone. He's great.
His voice has gotten better in old age, and how often does that happen?

I agree that Rod hasnt got the same quality to his voice that he had in the early 70's. I go listen to some faces and see why everyone went mad about him. I do that and think, yeah he should still be entertaining those older loyal fans. The blue rinse and lavender brigade as my bassist puts it. They enjoy it and still buy his tickets.

Any of the boy bands who ever graced the stage.

I was at a restaurant one day and got to talking to the waitress about music. She said I ought to go see her granddad and the jazz group he was in. The town was having a vintage cars weekend and this was a free series of concerts. Okay, I said and she said "oh yeah, by the way, they call granddad 'baby' ... but that's not some jazz nickname ... he's the baby of the group. He's only 84!"

I saw them thinking it was going to be Dixie maybe or at least very vintage tunes ... all of which I love. But no ... this was a bunch of 80 year olds doing contemporary stuff. And doing a very credible job of it too. No need for them to retire any time soon.

As long as you can play and people want to hear it, you have no need to retire. I'm saying this as a 57 year old with half of the people I know out of jobs due to some arbitrary view of a particular age as the qualification for employment. Let's forget age and make a new rule: if you're doing the job, you stay; if not, you retire.
