Steve Martin was just on Jules Holland playing a mean banjo! I didn't know he did this. For those with BBC2 look out for the longer show on Friday.

Yeah, he's a great player. Remember seeing him play on SNL when he was a regular.

He was fantastic, that probably explains the close friendship with Billy Connolly. They have more in common than just comedy and movies.

When I was going to college and working at Sony Music in Nashville back in the 90's he used to come into the office and play with some of his friends who worked there...he was amazing. He is also a really nice guy...always took the time to talk with everyone and do the whole picture taking thing.

Banjo was part of his 40 years ago...he must be pretty good by now. I remember him doing an instrumental with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band called White Russian long ago on TV.

he always used to incorporate it in his stand up way back when too. He was always really good at a pluckin' the banjo. Always funny as hell too.

Hi CC: yeah, I watched that program too. He wasn't bad, eh? Mind you, did you see how he was clenching his jaw in concentration? No goofing when it comes to the music!

I didn't know they were buddies. The two of them doing a banjo duet would be pretty cool!

if anyone remembers 'The Smothers Brothers Show' back in the '60s Steve got his start there with another country picker named Glen Campbell.
