Just wanted to note that Kraft is owned by Phillip Morris. Yes, the tobacco company.

For Kraft, it's all about "brands". They don't really want the Cadbury company per se. What they really want is to own the Cadbury name and all the brands that are under it. What's more valuable? A chocolate bar, or the brand name and the equity that the company has built for that name? Cadbury and many of it's products are household names. That's worth a lot of money in the business world. The products themselves are worthless, it's the brand that carries value.

Just like why Fender slaps their name onto every Squier guitar they make. People are much more likely to buy those guitars because the Fender brand is attached.
