Not me bro. Alice In Chains is about it and thats cos they have a more classic, epic feel. There are bound to be plenty here who do though.

I was and still am a fan of much of that music from the time period, I just hate using the word Grunge, because Mother Love Bone sounded nothing like TAD, Screaming Trees sounded nothing like The Melvins, Mudhoney sounded nothing like Skin Yard, Soundgarden sounded nothing like Nirvana, etc., etc., yet all these different kinds of groups get thrown in to the same category...

if you were heavy, a bit punky, not too metally, they called ya grunge. which now means i have no idea what grunge is. sure pearl jam were described as grunge. pls!?!? yeah, alice in chains for me.loved nirvana as a kid, but couldnt now

bowlfreshener and binterz made great points about the difference in styles.
I, personally, don't like what the Grunge movement did with guitar playin. In my opinion it simplified it for a whole next generation. Sometimes, more often than not, less is more but I'm not big on the power chord style of Nirvana.

Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and 'Chains I can listen to, especially 'Chains. I recently saw Duff McKagan's Loaded who are of the Seattle-type-thing. You would probably like them, especially a song called Seattle Head.

Basically I think there were a lot of great bands but for me personally it signalled the end of my beloved Guns N' Roses (although by that stage they'd gone stale).

I never got into grunge...jmo...it was too whiney....I got more into stuff like the Police, Boston, Steely Dan music which had a very broad range of guitar styles and lyrics. The grunge thing just seemed like a bunch of kids pissed off at their parents and complaining about their lives...again..JMO. Did grunge have some good stuff...yes..but just not for me.

That was pretty much the end of guitar driven rock. What followed it?

Creed and the christian rock movement? Green Day?

All I hear in Miami is Latin and Rap. I'm sure there are some niche markets for rock like NY but it's pretty much over.

None of this gets the airplay it deserves:

Maybe it's just a problem of the record companies not being able to make the profit they want.

You are also forgetting that Nu-metal, or rap-metal was also big around the time Creed was and Nickelback was at the time not realized to be the plague they are today...

i have to agree. the popular "grunge" bands were nothing alike. maybe grunge could be explained better for sense of style/fashion.

anyways, great music from the early 90's. god, im glad those bands killed off the 80's bands.
