I got the back to black and frank albums. Both have their highs and lows. The sultry jazz type songs are great, really good. Some of the ballads are dire though, like funeral dirges. Great set of pipes, shame she messed herself up.

Don't like anything about her. Don't really get into her music, could care less about her personal demons. We've all got em or have had em.... YMMV..... 8) Mike

I'm rather neutral about her, but I like Lily Allen...Better looking, sort of the god daughter of Joe Strummer, and 2 CDs into her career, has vowed not to make another album or renew her contract with her label...Amy Winehouse is a trainwreck, while Lily Allen is possibly the trainwreck you bring home to meet mom....

Same as a lot o people here in uk. If ya are unlucky enough to have to suffer radio bein played, there are no specialist stations. Which means if someone becomes popular, ya start to hate them cuz ya get sick o them. So i think i might have liked her. But by the same token, if it was say, guns, or aerosmith, or the mac, or bruce, i could go on, that shows she doesn't press the right buttons for me personally cuz i can listen to them endlessly without gettin infuriated. They only examples. So Talented yes. Annoyin. Definately.

She's alright, but would have a better chance if she would get herself straight. I like some of her music.

I have the "Frank" one too, I wouldn't expect many others to have it or have heard it, but the fact the you heard it, you know where she's been, where she's comin' from and what happens when you get yer first bit of starlight...

I watched a documentary on the music biz and what it does to people after years and years and years of sweatin' it out in dives and what happens when they see that it starts to get brighter. I hope she can bury her demons and keep up the pace.

For a 26-yr old female singer, I think she's still gonna be really big someday...if... :?:

Mike its a bit of a misnomer that she's sweated it out in dives as a club act. As far as I knew she left school at 16 and went straight into music journalism. Recorded a demo one day just her and her strat played it to the mag she worked for's editor. Next thing he's made a big push to get her going. The music scene in london lately is quite 'in each others pockets' as far as mainstream acts go. I really dont think she struggled like her predecessors.

That said she's got a great voice, and the brutal honesty to say what she wants. As far as judging her on her habits goes, well look at all the smackity guitarists that were a utter disgrace, yet you hear nothing but adoration for em. I wouldnt take any of them round to my moms, they'd be trying it on with her.

Blake civil fielding lives about 6 mile from me (when he's free). I'll see if I can dig up anything on her rise to fame.

I like the kind of retro cool ballroom vipe in her music (I also like that in Duffy... Daffy?? whatever her name is). But I can't say that I'll spend my money on her albums... I'm not gonna feed her habits  :D  :( too soon?

But anyway I hope she gets better, and makes past 27.

I dig her music, don't care much about her demons cause mine would swallow hers like a itty bitty bon bon, her band is ok, hope she stays around long enough to laugh about the past.

She's ok. Could defintely do without all that tabloid funny business she brings on herself though.

I really havent listened to very much of her music, so I dont think I'm fit to judge it as a whole. What little I have listened to is not my cup of tea.

I like her music to a point but she looks like a bulldog licking p!ss from a nettle with a mouthful of wasps.
