Tone Pins are brass bridge pins for acoustic. Anybody try these? Do you like them?

Bought a set of these and installed them yesterday. Haven't decided if I will keep them in place or put the old bridge pins back in. Guitar does sound like it rings a little more. Also seems a little brighter but there's something more to the sound that I haven't been able to put my finger on yet and I don't know if I like it or not. Need to spend more time with it.

Interesting Bro, let us know what you decide (haven't tried them I guess you are the tester).

I've seen these pins on the net and have been curious about them, but have not had any experience with them.

I wanted to clean up the high end (which sounded a little muddy) on one of my dreds so I just put them on the B and E strings. They seem to have done a nice job for that.

Well, after a few days of listening to them and swapping them in and out twice for comparison, I've decided I like them and they're staying in. They do seem to make the guitar a touch brighter which is not always what you want but the increase in individual note definition and the very slight increase in sustain and the significant increase in (what? ... harmonics?) make them really worth it. That other aspect I was not able to put my finger on I now think must be harmonics. The guitar rings out now in a way I had not heard before and was unable to define it with words but now I believe it is the sympathetic resonance of the strings vibrating together making the harmonies like root, third and fifth seem to come together more luxuriously. I suspect that whatever it is that seems to improve note definition also affects harmonies. It's hard to define but whatever it is, I like it.

Sounds cool, I've been waiting on 'the verdict'. Thinking of trying them out myself. Thanks for explaining it!

I think I'll get a set also.

The use of brass guitar parts got big in the 1970's. I sold brass pins, bridges, and nuts when I mangaged a music store. If you want to get a brighter tone, I think the brass nut will give you the biggest change. It is an easy install, but you will want to have a guitar shop cut it for you.

You may find brass saddles (for acoustic) on the market as well.

:)

I tried a brass saddle on a Sigma DR41 back in the early 80's. It was WAY too bright and I removed it immediately and put bone back in.

I just put a set on my Mahogany Kay D-15 copy along with a tusq saddle, and they were a great improvement, much clearer tone and I just ordered another set for my 72 univox hummingbird copy, which sounds great already but just a tad muddy on the high end now that the Kay sounds so good.
