Hey guys, you know when you get that feelin where you are locked into a song either playing alone, with a track or band style- and you can't get that smile off your face...it's better than anything you have ever felt? It feels so right and is one of the most exhilarating feelings you have ever had?

Well I would love to see you guys try and put that feeling into words.....I can't but I look forward to the attempts.

Happy jammin.

I hear you and second that feeling, for me since I am still a beginner it is the point at which it just *CLICKS* and I finally figure out the strumming pattern on a song I have been working on or when I work my way through a song I have heard a million times before but finally just GET IT! It's almost like a moment of peace and oneness with my guitar and at the same time I am exploding inside with excitement and a feeling of acomplishment...at least for me thats what it feels like.

It's like seting on your back Deck on that Fall day, You know the one the sky is blue the weather is just right the leaves are an area of colors. Your dog is lying beside you and just than your lady brings you a cup or glass of your favorite drink. You look up to the Heavens and say, It just dont get better than this. IMO

Exactly the way I feel about it when its right. Its like your a airplane engine, just blasting through the ozone, nothing can touch you, your accelerating at a extreme velocity and the whole world is just whirling past your ears. You though are almost serene, like its spiritual and intensely personal despite everything else going crazy.

Yep thats the guitar playing experience at its best. Atleast for me.

Mega-wow's guys. I thought this would be good. I love so much being one with the instrument.

Every moment and every flick of your hand and finger makes the pain go away, like you are simply brushing a fly off your shirt. For me it's the light in the dark. I thrive for the release and we all know many things can give us that release but nothing else can match it in terms of the beauty that release creates, the sounds you hear match the feelings you feel.

For me it's the ultimate.

It is like that first sip of wine after crossing the desert..smooth, sweet yet pungent, like the feel of the cool breeze coming off the ocean and cleansing your soul...but more important like the way your body and heart feel when you see the woman of your dreams and you know that she is the one that you are destined to spend eternity with....and your soul smiles.

I've been playing guitars for about 25 years on and off. I never took it seriously as a youngster, but I have been playing every single day for about the last 2 years now. I got divorced and it was good therapy. Earlier this year I bought an amp that is loaded with backing tracks of many styles, and a recording function. Last week I put a little chord progression together with a 2-step drum beat, and tonight I was improvising leads over the rhythm and drums. I can honestly say that it was the best playing that I have ever done. It is truly a great feeling for me to honestly feel like I am making music with my guitar. All is right with the world right now.

I really wish I practiced as a kid, because I think I posessed more potential than I gave myself credit for. Anyway I'm feeling awesome right now.

PS I have always been a solitary bedroom type of player and for the first time I started jamming with friends over the past few months. A bud of mine came over last Friday with his keyboard and we were jamming some blues and pentatonic type stuff and it sounded good to us. That also brought me a very satisfied feeling. He's going through a rough time right now, but all that was forgotten for a while while we were "in the pocket" jamming together.

For me it's like a battle, but a battle I enjoy. I enjoy the frustrations of learning a new piece or lick, or way of working through something. I actually start to giggle and laugh out loud when I can finally nail a piece and it sounds like I've heard it a million times over the radio or CD. It's a feeling of victory.

I mostly enjoy the Blues and Country and Western music. And I don't mean today’s "country" music, but the music of the 50s, 60s and early 70s. That music has the Blues in its roots. Those are songs of struggle and hardship, so those songs are where I look for my inspiration.

I feel that the type of music I'm drawn to so strongly is why I enjoy my Telecasters so much. When I pick up one of my Tele's and start to knock out the lines of Johnny Cash "I Walk the Line", or try to work through some Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Buck Owens, etc, I cross over into all types of music - Traditional Country, Rock-a-Billy, Bakersfield, Outlaw Country, Country Rock, etc. The Tele was made for that sound. Those were songs sung by the working man about the working man. The Tele is a working man’s guitar. Simple, but rugged. It always gets the job done.

An area we don't go through, or at least talk much about here on the boards is song writing and then writing the music for the song. I've just started to tackle that monster and find it extremely gratifying. I've discovered that in the act of trying to write in the style of a songwriter, I've had to dig into myself and examine my life a bit; who I am and who I want to be. I've had a great life and honestly feel I have been blessed more than most, with a great military career that allowed me to see the entire world, provide me a great income for 23 years and further provide me with an outstanding retirement. So sometimes it's kinda hard for me to play and write the Blues when I haven't really had to live the Blues.

My Tele, the music I like, and the struggles of trying to play, write and compose bring me to a place that I can’t quite describe. It helps me grow, understand myself and others, and directs me to where I want to go with my life.

That’s quite a lot of feelings to be able to get from a couple of chunks of wood, a few pieces of metal and some wires.

I love this part...and totally can relate to it. Once it clicks and you have it down its like a serious victory and accomplishment and it makes you love the song that much more because now it is YOU that is playing it!

Good post!

Hmm... interesting stuff here. Let me think of the words.

It's sort of like Goldilocks. It ain't too fast, and it ain't too slow. It's just right. It's sort of like transcending space-time if one keeps at it long enough. The future doesn't matter, the past doesn't matter, and the only thing that's important is the present; the single note note that you're playing, although the past notes and future notes that haven't been played yet work together. It's very confusing. You have to be there, and feel it. Hendrix said it right; music is a high.

i want to describe how that feeling makes me feel.

What does it mean to me?

It means i have just filled my pants with whatever bodily fluids decide to exit my system at that particular moment in time. which, I couldnt care less about, because I am that lost and hung up in that moment, that everything else is irrelevant. my breathing would stop if it wasn't an involuntary action. which is what the best guitar usually is, an involuntary action. it is why we jam. it's why we strive to learn. it is what we do. it is...

Spirit

if ya know what i mean. not sure i do lol
