I haven't sang out loud since I was in Jr. High ...

Ummm, but aren't you 17 and still in high school? My point is that when many of us say that (like me, unfortunately), Junior High was lonnnnng time ago. It just sounds funny to think of someone so young saying that.

I mean no harm or insult ... I just thought it was funny. And feel free to correct me if I am incorrect...

But it feels like a long time ago. I was about 11, so I've lived about a third of my life since. I sang in choir from the time I was in 1st grade until then.

Well if they want you to sing they must like the way you sound. The voice is an instrument and like every other one the more you practice the stronger and better you will get. I also call it the lazy mans or in your case womans gift.lol My oldest son has a tremendous God given voice and can just belt it when he wants, while my 11 year old has to sit for hours practicing guitar. I think that is why lead singers are always a pain in the $@! as they dont have to put in the time everyone else does. But those who can sing and work on it can really improve big time. When I sing all the cats in the neighborhood join in.lol

tex, the nice thing about singing is that you can practice it more than you can guitar. Anytime you are alone; driving, walking, in the shower, you can improve your chops.

I reccommend putting in the time and singing while you practice guitar as well, of coarse. It will make you more valuable to a band and help with your song writting. I played in bands with lead singers, both male and female. When they got a full bladder, I got to do my vocal three song set.

After many years of singing, I learned to sing songs I could not sing in the past. The secret was openning my mouth and letting the note fly. Seriously, I was shocked at what I could do.

Hope this is helpful.

i would sing only Motorhead songs, that way you can sound like you gargled lava and glass and barbed wire and STILL match lemmy exactly.
