I have to wonder what it must be like for the rest of the country when you get down to it. Even though I am a MET fan I still watch and root for the Yanks unless it is them playing the Mets. But in my 47 years it is just expected that the Yankees are going to be in the playoffs or have a shot to win it all coming out of spring training. 40 pennants and 27 WS is just mind blowing

Money buys you the odds year in year out so you are correct before the season starts odds favor a few teams who have the market to make the money and buy the best players as they come available. Baseballs downfall and why fans are dwindling most places. Until baseball goes after the players union and get caps as well a minimums that a team needs to spend like football its always going to be the same group and the one or two year wonder that shows each year in it but then looses there players to free agency to the big money group of teams. Its a lot harder to build a winning football team and maintain it when all the teams have the same resources they are allowed to use. Well run small market team has as much chance as the large market teams. Dynasties come from planing and recruiting and a smart front office. Not the ability to buy the best players as they come available, it may not guarantee a win but you be a fool not to admit it gives you the odds over the others. Yankee payroll this year 202 million, Red Sox 121 million, Bluejays 80 million, Orioles 67 million, Rays 63 million. Who would have the best odds of winning the Amer League East.? 21 teams have payrolls under 100 million 3 of them under 50. The Phillies are the third highest payroll team in the National league 113 million. In todays baseball pennant 27 just means they bought another. Its about as much of an accomplishment as Jimmy Johnson winning a Nascar race against My friend George and his race car that he built in the garage behind his house. I am just venting. Thank goodness for Football!!!

YEAH!!!! :D:D:D:D

I stayed up to watch the Yanks win, but I kept passing out and waking up, but I thankfully made myself wake up just when they got the winning out. Then Dad played the whole thing for me again....
Thank God for DVR.

I say congrats to the Yankees. ^^
I must also say I live in Pittsburgh, where the Pirates (more like the Pittsburgh Prospects) have been in hibernation ever since Barry Bonds made that horrid throw and went to San Fransisco. Hasn't been a winning season since >_> All in the town where last year we won both Lord Stanley's Cup and the Vince Lombardi Trophy <_<
