I am quite happy with Fender prices,
just go buy something like a Gibson Les Paul gold top standard and see expensive.

I could manage to afford a fender AM dlx, if I wanted a les paul I'd have to settle for an epiphone .
You want top home grown quality instrument you are going to pay for it, and I try to NOT support foreign made if I can help it.

I agree, I get tired of hearing the complaining of the fender price raise……does the price raise get me miffed?.....sure!!!!...I also don’t care that Milk has a price increase, car prices have gone up, and houses are outrageously high all in a failing economy…what can I do about it?....right not a dang thing; so endless complaining is just a waste of time and energy…

That’s how the economy works, inflation is a pain but is a part of life (sure not going anywhere but up)

Thing is you don’t have a choice on items like milk, houses, and cars…..You don’t need to have a fender and if people think they are priced to high then don’t buy one (that’s a choice you have to make on your own…………………… I want a new Mesa Amp so bad I can taste it…..problem is I think there priced too high and don’t see myself getting one any time soon, I had to make a choice. I also choose not to go onto the mesa forum and complain about it because I know it’s a waste of everybody’s time.

Cheers
Bill

Well I think everyone has just about adjusted to the price hike by now. The only thing that I feel Fender dropped the ball on was the timing, but then again maybe it was in the plans for a while to hike prices and they had to pull the trigger eventually. As I stated when the price hike first took affect I looked at about 7 other companies models that were there highest item right before the custom shop and just about all if not all had Fender bear price wise. That included Gibson,PRS,Ibanez, Music Man,Dean,Rickenbacker,Jackson and a few others. So everyone of those companies artist series guitars were over two grand before Fenders hike. I am critical on Fender when I dont think they are doing right but in this case I felt they were more than just and probably were hoping the economy would rise a bit but since it never did they had to do what they had to do. End of story

I think Fender guitars are priced very well compared tomost other brands.

Like another member said, whatever your budget you can get a kickass Fender instrument!

And the top of the line USA Standard Fender's cost pretty much half of the equivilent Gibson, or even Ibanez or ESP!

Stray,
I hear you. I just look at the competition and what you get for the price...I am sorry and really don't mean to tick anyone off but you caan't convince me that a LP is worth $3 to $5K when the same level Strat or Tele is priced at between $1,300 to $1,700. Do the price hikes stink...yes, but I understand that it is necessary...and if it means that I will always get the fantastic quality and craftsmanship on my guitars that I have...then by all means do what you must. I am willing to pay for it. It may take me a little longer but I will get it eventually.

The TDPRI and the FDP both have their strong points and weak points. They do have three things in common, though:

1) some very knowledgeable people
2) some serious cry baby whining
3) continual artist bashing

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Good post and I agree, I used to think the CS's were overpriced but then I really played one and it's night and day when it comes to how quality they are, so I can't see how anyone can complain really. And in general I try to eliminate the negative energy in my life which includes people who criticize/complain all the time.

"We have to keep in mind one thing: Most critics don't do anything. They can't create anything, so what they do is they criticize. They dump on things. This has been throughout time. They did the same thing to Dizzy Gillespie and Charles Parker and John Coltrane. I've always figured that the critics were probably reincarnations of the mob that crucified Christ"

Agreed.
The great thing (IMHO anyway) about Fender is that they have a good product at just about any price point. Sure I'd love to be able to get a 52RI Tele or a Deluxe Strat but realistically they are out of my price range. Luckily the standard MIM Tele I bought plays, looks, and sounds great and I'm happy with that. At the moment I have an itch for a Strat. Now I'd love to get a Classic player but I can't justify (to myself OR my wife) to spend nearly $2000AUD on one. Luckily the Squier CV or VM Strats (which only cost about $650AUD) are also great looking and sounding guitars and I'll probably get one of those.

The other great thing about them is that you can get a cheaper model and gradually build it up into something really special.

people should just get on with it and PLAY!
Cheers.

and this post just about covers it, no matter your level of play or budget, FENDER MAKES A GUITAR FOR YOU!
