Most for me the live show is always preferred to recorded.

Los Lonely Boys. Saw the live a couple of months ago.......best show I've seen in years. It was in an old 1930's movie theater. I was four rows from the stage.

Flight of the Conchords

(Seriously... This isn't a joke. I didn't even think they were real musicians until I saw them live. They were great players, and a whole lot funnier live)

IDK I seem to like Rush better live (at least in their early years, when they were actually playing hard rock lol).

One of my particular favorites is A Passage to Bangkok. That opening riff...

In my experience, good bands almost always sound better live.

'Cept the ones who use the studio to dub 10 or 20 layers of tracks and those dubs are the key to the overall sound. Those bands do exist. Boston was one such band in the 70's. They were still great musicians but it was difficult to reproduce a lot of those songs live.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
