Forum user GiantPiggy was telling us the other day that Joe Bonamassa is playing in Australia next year:

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... hp?t=29236

Here in England I've been following him for a few years now and was at the landmark Albert Hall gig in May (me and the Missus can clearly be seen in the crowd on the DVD  ).

Next year Bonamassa is playing another famous London rock and roll venue, the Hammersmith Apollo (formally Odeon). Tickets went on sale this morning at 9.00 am. Sold out by 9.11 - but the Missus was on the computer as sales opened and not only bagged a couple of tickets in the second row but got a package that includes a meet-and-greet session with the artist before the show and seats at the sound check.

Silly I know, but I feel like a kid who just opened a Christmas present and found it was even better than the one he'd hoped for!

Cheers - C

Yes! A while ago she produced Knopfler tickets for the RAH next May too. May is shaping up to be a busy month...

Excellent, I wish Joe visits Toronto. I did not see Canada in his plans in the first half of 2010. Starting to like him and that vibrato on all chords that he is doing (sounds like a gipsy violin/fiddle).

Ceri… the last videos you took turned out so great that I cannot wait to see pix and video from the meet and greet… I am a huge Bonamassa fan but have missed the last 3 shows here due to either serving in Iraq or like this year, could not get the time off from work…..have a great time and be sure to take care of that Missus….she’s a keeper for sure….LOL

Cheers
Bill

I still remember when he was being touted as a teenage genuis.

A wiki excerpt :

"At the age of 11, during a short period of being mentored by Danny Gatton, he learned such styles as country and jazz as well as heavy rock. During this time with Gatton, Bonamassa sat in with Gatton's band whenever they played in New York. He first opened for B. B. King at 12 years of age. After first hearing him play, King said, “This kid's potential is unbelievable. He hasn't even begun to scratch the surface. He's one of a kind.”

At 14, he was invited to attend a Fender guitar event; during that trip to the West Coast he met Berry Oakley, Jr. Bonamassa and Berry founded the group Bloodline with Miles Davis's son Erin and Robby Krieger's son Waylon. They released one album which produced two chart singles — "Stone Cold Hearted", and "Dixie Peach." He has since played with other music greats including Buddy Guy, Foreigner, Robert Cray, Stephen Stills, Joe Cocker, Gregg Allman, Steve Winwood, Paul Jones, Eric Clapton, and Derek Trucks."

Not a bad resume! 8)

That's exactly how I felt in Austin when I got to meet Jimmie Vaughan. Waiting outside during sound check felt like waiting for Christmas morning. lol
