HAHA!

i know that john mayer nowadays is a little kinda.. whats the word... !@$? but some of his older stuff is good and i just like the soul he puts into it. and the soul of the song is what i like the most, and thats what the blues is about. anyways, everything on this thread is just opinions.

I'm pretty new to blues too, considering I never really listened to it at all until about a year ago. But my favorites would be,

1. Stevie Ray Vaughan
2. Jimmie Vaughan
3. Albert Collins
4. Lightnin' Hopkins
5. Buddy Guy

And a bunch more...

Another blues newbie. In no particular order:

BB King
Buddy Guy
Eric clapton
John Mayer. Hey I didn't believe it either until I checked out some of his licks on you tube. The man has talent. He just needs to stay off TMZ.

Great thread!

But how about also recommending an album, oops CD, uh MP3, that is representative of the guitarist?

[quote=
duane allman[/quote]

Duane Allman is the only white blues guitarist playing on one song ( I'm Gonna Move to the Outskirts of Town ) that I could swear it was a black guitarist. There is a definite, IMHO, difference in the sound I can hear in
a second. White guitarists tend to play more notes, faster, and with a more in your face approach. Black blues tends to be understated, more coy and what I term slinkiness. Is there another white guitarist playing a particular song that no one would know that he is white ?? I'd love to know !!
