Your dislike for the day is understandable. Alot of different things can be associated with halloween. Most churches dont like it because of the association with evil spirits or demons. Others dont like the term Trick or Treat, becuase it implies extortion of candy in order to avoid getting vandalized. The list goes on and on. I guess I prefer to look at it as a harmless day where participants give out candy to kids dressed up in costumes, and not read any deeper meaning into it. I can see how this event so close to you has affected alot of people and with good reason.
