hello, people! i was just wondering if anyone had any helpful advice for working well together, might help some out there. i know that it always helps to say something like, "I always have trouble there too, (insert bassist's name)" as opposed to, "YO, IDIOT! learn to count!" always good to use we, as well

Never underestimate the power of the word, "We" vs. "I" and, "You".

If a player is having a hard time, "School, not scold." Negativity only begets more negativity. Take the person quietly and discretely aside. Offer to sit down with him or her 'one on one' at your earliest mutual convenience to work out and resolve the problem(s); this should not be announced to the rest of the band. Offer to do so to the extent necessary and do so without any belligerence yet with infinite patience. You'd be amazed at the positive results.

Suggest rather than give orders, and be more than willing to participate in other peoples suggestions too. Infact actively encourage band members to make suggestions and share their idea's. I particularly target people that tend to stay quiet or hang around up the back trying not to get noticed.

My favourite is can we try that song but use this as the ending? Or can we try that without the 3rds played on the bass, and see what we think? "And see what WE think" being the crucial factor on any suggestion.

Learn to deal with compromises.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
