I got this wall post from Celtic Cyclonus on facebook where CC told me that his name is Kevin in celtic. It got me wondering what my name means. And with help from the internet I found out.

My first name is similar to John in english and comes from acient hebrew and it means Gods grace. It was a famous Rabbi name in acient Israel and lot of western names come from that name like Giovanni, Ion, Johan, Jóhannes, Jean (Jehan in old french).

My middle name is Gestur, which was one of Óðinns (Odinn one of the Norse gods) names (he used many names) and it means guest or unknown visitor.

In Iceland the last name is usually the name of the father like <name of father> -son or -dóttir. My fathers name is Guðmundur which means protected by God or in Gods hand.

No wonder that I am atheist. With all that spiritualism in my name it was just to much pressure from birth :D .

Do you guys know what your name means?

The boy's name Paul \

paul\ is pronounced pahl. It is of Latin origin, and its meaning is "small".

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Serge: Latin Sergius, meaning attendant. Origin is Etruscan, which is fine with me as Tuscany and Florence are my favorite places in Italy

Ceri: (kerry) a Welsh name of early medieval origin, from Gaelic.

Possibly derived from the Old Welsh personal name "Cynwrig": "cyn" - chief; and "(g)wr" - man, hero.

Alternatively from Old English "Cyneric": "cyne" - royal; and "ric" - power.

Hey, glad I looked that up!

...But really, what balls!!!

Cheers - C

I'm with you, NonniG. My name (Michael) comes from Hebrew and means "Who is like God?" And the answer, apparently, is "not me!" :)

My last name means "barrel-maker." So I think I'll stick with that one. 8)
