I got dragged to it by my wife. I am going to come clean, though ... it was great. Seeing him in this unfinished mode with not all the polish applied really sheds a lot of light to his artistry and brilliance. And beyond him, his band smokes.

A lot of people here will likely post the "pedophile burn in hell" stuff. To be honest ... I really think he didn't do anything wrong beyond putting himself in bad positions and making some bad decisions. No one will ever know for sure...

I know that I am likely in the minority here, but I am willing to stand up and admit I went. Further, it was real friggin' good.

I'm always willing to put the art before the man and he was a hell of an artist. Already name dropped once today so I wont mention the name but a guy my band worked with a few years back is playing guitar in one of his vids and when I was drunk I was more intrigued about what he knew about Jacko than anything he had done, lol. I think he ended up hating me. He just said that out of everyone he'd met/worked with that Jacko had the most presence but seemed constantly nervous in a 'Woody Allen kind of way'.

I for one would like to go see This Is It. I'll prob go during the week.

I'd go see it. Jackson was a fantastic entertainer, and his music was fun and infectious. It just put you in a good mood and made you want to dance. 'Thriller' was the first album I ever owned that didn't feature little kids' songs or singing muppets. In a way it set the stage for all the rest of the music I'd get into later on in life.

MJ the man certainly had his fair share of problems, but MJ the performer was without peer.

i don't support this at all. Would this movie be making money if he wasn't dead? No, the only reason this was released is b/c he died. It's a sad attempt to make money. It's being released a few months after he died no less. I mean jesus people if you're gonna make a documentary on the guy wait a few years. I honestly don't see what the big deal is. Take for instance the movie "Walk The Line" about Johnny Cash (who was waaaaay more influential than Jackson). Released a few years after he died. Michael Jackson's death is the most over-hyped thing i've seen. Get a life people.

My only complaint is that "This is It" seems more like a money making opportunity than anything else. Why couldn't this be a tv documentary so everyone can watch him instead of paying an exorbitant amount of money in a movie theater? Or at least have some of the proceeds go to his charities or something like that.

I don't really plan on seeing it because of that. I hope that maybe with the release of the DVD that some of the funds could go to charities or music foundations.

That's my opinion about it.

Hi 01GT: bizzare I know but MJ has made absolutely no impression on me whatsoever. He's completely passed me by - I must be one of the few people on the planet who's never even heard Thriller all the way through.

However. I've seen some review clips of this movie and I must admit I'm intrigued. My wife wants to go see it and I'm sure I'll go with her. Might be interesting.

Cheers - C

The lady pictured with him in the above picture can play the hell out of a guitar! All I'll say.

Who is she, and has she ever been in a band? Just curious. Just wondering if she's got an album or something.

Ceri, MJ was the same for me. Something in the background i didn't really like. I don't see him as a great musician, but his fans obviously did.

however it s very hard to separate the man from the musician. Even if you are extra generous with your opinions on what he did or didn't do, you need to acknowledge that at the very least he continuously put himself in inappropriate situations with small boys. This behavior didn't change throughout his adult life, even after brushes with the law, and much money going out of his pocket to keep situations quiet. His life hardly seems like something worthy of celebration.

Everyone has an opinion on Jacko. Mine, for what its worth is that he was very eccentric. His life made him who he was. But he did nothing wrong except to make some bad judgement call's. It was always obvious , to me at least that he was on a different wavelength to everyone else. but he was still a great person ( in the guinness book of records for donating some crazy sums of money to charity and what not).

Regarding MJ the artist, he was never, and will never be beaten. I had tickets to see the concert and being a lifelong fan was absolutely gutted when i found out id never get a chance to see him live. The movie, although done so AIG can recoup some of the cash input into the concert, still gives a great impression of what the gig would have been like, and also shows that when he is not been treated like he needs to be wrapped in cotton wool(by Kenny Ortega mainly), MJ could debate with others, take on advice and criticizm and also he a hard $@! when someone just wasnt listening. The show would have been amazing and because of this i came out of the cinema dissapointed that he's gone, that i wont see him, but in awe at his artistic genius.

I've heard her name before but for the life of me I can't remember now. I'm sure you can google his guitar player.

her name is Orianthi Panagaris. Shes of Greek/Australian decent, signed to Carlos Santana's record label. Theres an interview of Carlos on youtube praising her to the high heavens saying she is the one to carry on the torch.

Theres cool moment betwen her and MJ in the movie.

She is also smokin hot! Nothing sexier than a petite blond 22 year old rock chick who is a daemon on guitar!
