Who is the guitar player(s) that you go out and listen to in your town? I'm not talking about the guy from your hometown that is now in the big league, but the local guy who you admire and steal lics from.
In the Quad Cities (Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois) mine are Ron Wilson (who plays a Strat), Scott Whitehall (also a Strat player) and Chuck Thompson (a Tele man). These guys can play it all. Ron can make his Strat sound like a pedal steel and is the blues king, Scott is a rocker, and Chuck is a well rounded player and Pedal Steel guy. I learn something everytime I see these guys play.

Shot the vid myself. Danelectro through a Vintage Fender Amp. Ted just has a great vibe and always gets the crowd movin.

There's a blues band that plays Long Beach, CA I go and see once in a while. The band is BluzWest and my Bro in Law took lessons from the guitar player, Chris.

Cool Thread!

Blues-Rock: Alan Mirikitani (BB Chung King with the Buddaheads)

Folk-Americana-Rock: Dave Alvin

Gone but not forgotten: Buddy Blue

If interested these guys are from SoCal. Mirikitani and Alvin from LA; and Blue was in San Diego.

This guy, Roy Simmons. He's Blues/Rock all the way and man, can he play! He refuses to play in bands any more and 'convenient' session work is all he'll commit himself to. I'm sure he must turn down a great working band at least once a week. And believe it or not, he's the furthest thing from being, "stuck-up", He just says that he's gigged since the late 60s and he no longer wants to put up with the crazy hours or the traveling. Rather, he prefers nowadays to, "sleep in his own bed".

Dan Peters, a local Chicago guitar player/singer currently with the West Sidewinders and in the Blues Guitar Contest Finals on the west coast somewhere.

Here on Maui for all around guitar playing, hands down Tom Conway. By far the best guitar player in the state. For more of a Latin feel Joe Cano... For the blues, Vince Esquire (fender strat). Just my thoughts. We have a lot of guitar player come Thur the island. But these guys live here.. Markdaivd
