Man I thought the dotted lines denoted a new drawing and that everything was on the 2nd fret. :?

Not very clear.

heh... I thought that must have been the case. It didn't even cross my mind that nikininja could get F# minor and major mixed up. Mind you, I was craning my neck around strangely and wiggling my fingers on my air guitar for a while before I understood the diagram. My co-workers have come to expect that from me, though.

Not the first time I've been wrong mate. Certainly wont be the last.

I'm starting to think the OP is a response to the post about guitarists who are wizard players that dont know anything of key or note names.

Hi Ninja and Mondo: gotta say, I still don't understand what wiiman8 is trying to communicate with those hieroglyphs. If you are getting it, care to write it out a little more conventionally for the rest of us, please? This way, perhaps:

E -
B -
G -
D -
A -
E -

...Cheers - C

E-F#
B-C
G-Bb
D-x
A-x
E-x

Bloody confusing. See what I meant on the other post. Without being conversant to note names you just cant communicate.

If the OP wishes to email me, I'll gladly draw him up a diagram of note positions on the neck. If he asks nicely I'll also scan and copy him my bassist (very nice bloke)'s crib sheet.

Wouldnt it be nice if some of the bigger guitar sites included that basic info for free. We'd all be in the same ballpark then when trying to talk about stuff. Dunno about any of you but i didnt pay to learn that, it took a hell of a lot of effort to find it out though.

Ha! Thanks Ninj - damn I was feeling stupid on that one.

Well, if you let the D string ring as well, then it's just D7, no?

I'm not sure from wiiman8's first post whether any of the open strings are played or not...?

Man, what a long thread for one chord!

Not really getting how you wrote it is that just an open G, B, and high E string?

where the "0"s are is where your fingers go, the open spaces between the horizontal bars are the frets (1st fret 2nd fret, and 3rd fret going from top to bottom) the high e is on the far right...

You'll be understood better if you use standard tab notation. If I'm reading your example correctly, it would be either this:

e| --2--
B| --1--
G| --3--
D| --X--
A| --X--
E| --X--

or this:

e| --2--
B| --1--
G| --3--
D| --0--
A| --0--
E| --0--

...depending on whether the 4th, 5th and 6th strings are played or not. Learn more at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_tab#Guitar_tab

Oh is that it? Then I'm still getting it wrong and fretting the wrong note on the G string. So it ain't a D7 after all.

What did Mondo say? He's generally right on this stuff...

Well, if it's...

e| --2--
B| --1--
G| --3--
D| --0--
A| --X--
E| --X--

...then the Chordinator says that's a Daug7. Leaving the A and E strings open sounds terrible, but this combo is fairly tuneful. So I'm guessing that's what the OP has in mind. 8)

Well that's good enough for me!

Man, what an exhausting thread!

Can we all band together and buy wiiman8 a chord book please? As a mercy to humanity!

just to read, i'm a man for inventive chords, but yeah, just the sheer confusion caused smoke to radiate from my ears lol.
