O.O
Its a big world out there mate. I dont take anything for granted. Both the names Jim and in a musical or industrial context Gravity are both very popular, I'll bet. Just look at all the band names that are taken already. We even have Gravity FM radio here. (If he reads this he's gonna sue, i know it  ).

It does seem a starring coinkydink now though.

Shame if he's of the temprament to just dissapear. I for one will miss him. He could be sharp at times, but atleast he was always honest about his opinions.

Infact looking at it, this does seem to be classic SlapChop

The fact that you're asking this question indicates that you've gotten some ideas about "lead" and "rhythm" guitar that might impeded your progress as a player.

The fact is this: a guitar is a guitar, and anything with six string that stays n tune can be used to play lead, rhythm, fingerstyle, slide, whatever. ALl the preconceived notions about what guitar is right for what are nothing but barriers to getting better

Yes, you can play "lead" on a Tele, or anything.

Shame I liked both posters.

Really wound up by a bloke who only wants to do country rockabilly songs and Faces songs. Despite not being able to sing them and keep spitting his false teeth out.
British wintertime clocks went back 1 hour the weekend. 2AM.
Point taken, bedtime.

You're not doubting the detective work of Mr Ceri, are you?
Just do a search on "gravitymusic" at this forum and check out the results:

Hi Gents: now Wednesday afternoon where I am...

For starters, I deserve no credit whatsoever for detective work. Bill948 dropped a massive hint earlier on this thread - if I couldn't spot that then I should hang up my Deer Stalker right now! Bill is clearly the man in the know...

I feel particularly dumb, because I knew the Gravity Music website from ages ago, and yet I still didn't wake up to it when SlapChop posted his music clips hosted there. [Sound of palm slapping forehead...]

And in fact GravitySlapJim hasn't been deceiving anyone: Mike found a post from way back in the Gravity Jim days where he states in black and white who he is and what he does.

The runes were there all along for those as cared to read 'em...

I had a little word with Jim last night cos I just hated the idea of someone leaving and thinking nobody gave a damn. I'm afraid he says he ain't coming back (at least not as SlapChop...). I do hope he won't mind me relaying here that he says it's not because of the unfortunate shouting match the other day: he says he just doesn't feel it's the right place for him.

On the plus side, I've been learning that Gravity Jim is still to be found on other forums - so we ain't exactly holding a wake here.

Still. Our loss, I feel.

Oh well. Onward...

Cheers - C

Hey all,
I guess I really dont understand why he has left...Twice... I know (from his posts) that he is very passionate about his views and opinions. Take a miniute and find his posts and you will see what I mean. I for one, liked the debates and learned a lot. I hope that everyone can learn a little from this as well... everyone has an opinion, and should be respected as such.
Well, if he does come back, our forum will be better for it.

Bill

All's I know is I think it is time for Ceri to post his own take on the album cover from Pink Floyd's "Animals". How is that relevent to this conversation? Well, it isn't. But when has that ever stopped us? Ceri should have won a Pulitzer for it as far as I am concerned. Post it up, Ceri ... (please) ... I am at a point right now that I need to see some greatness ...

  Well, I ain't the fella to be bashful after a post like that! The customer is always right - so:

Yes, I missed Bill948's earlier post with the massive hint.

I am sorry to see our friendly exchanges get all blown out of shape.
The pen can be sharper than the sword, I guess.

Hey, let's have a big fight and go storming off in opposite directions!!!

Now. Dare I mention it? Although Mr StrayCat made a few posts after THAT thread he also has now been absent for a while...

And while we're doing Missing Persons, on I hope a less sinister note I don't seem to have seen MrBill around for a time. He's gotta be one of the nicest guys you could hope to meet: I trust he's just out power washing the drive, or whatever...

Erm - is Forum user SlapChop none other than Jim Bordner at Gravity Music? The music clips he posted were hosted there; he made a decal that says "Jim" for his S-type headstock...

Am I way behind the curve? Have I just belatedly worked out what everyone else has known all along?

Anyhow. Where has Doktor SlapChop got to? He surely ain't the man to leave town because of some silly heated words on that thread the other day...?

Cheers - C

Ceri? is the doktor ok? I know, thick as a brick, sorry. some thing I missed? a thread? a post? can I help in some way? or,,,,,

Hi SBLS: 'fraid The Doktor has left the building. However, if you want to find him do a Google search on Gravity Jim, his other username. He's still out there in forum land elsewhere...

This site is in fact better than most in that there isn't much bickering and slamming on each other.

I am a "fly on the wall" who comes here to learn stuff, maybe look enviously at the photos of some folks' massive collections, and throw out a comment or two.

There is a hierarchy here like everywhere, decide on what you want to get out of membership here and make it work.
