Okay, getting some polish and a blood drive distortion pedal. First I call an internet site about 3 times about it because it says it's in, but my shipping code won't go through. Then they won't do it on the phone because they said it was out. However, it went through on the Internet site without the free shipping.

So, I just canceled it.

Then, I emailed GC for a quote and they matched it right away, plus 10 percent, plus I added some fender polish for about the same price as just the blood drive pedal alone (maybe just a few cents more at GC because of the sales tax). I tried a bunch of music stores online and they wouldn't match it except for GC. So, for the price of the pedal, I got some polish for a few cents more.

:D Bless GC.

Okay, back to playing my guitar. Trying to get the chords right.

Does anyone have those wall mount guitar hangers? I was thinking of getting a cheap one just for my classical to get it off the floor (or for my electric if I just want to hang it for quick access). There's a coffin wall hanger on sale for cheap (okay, I'm a goth at heart--don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out)

Also, I was thinking of putting on a new neck plate with a custom one. Are those hard to replace? Should I just leave it alone? A lot of people seem to custom their guitars, but since I'm a beginner, I just want to do some minor aesthetics like the neck plate. However, I don't want to ruin the neck.

Thanks.

For what it's worth, you only get what you pay for  Cheap wall hangers are just that imho, go the extra few bucks and get something "safe" http://www.herculesstands.com/guitars/hangers.html
I have had two of these, for about two years or so. Not one single problem with them, it's also worth noting, these are specially finished so's not to harm the finish on your guitar.

LVA,

I have three wall hangers. I have two Fret Rest hangers that work well, and one Hercules wall hanger. I really recommend the Hurcules hanger, they have a safety latch that holds the guitar in place when the guitar hangs. Lift the guitar and the safety devise opens up so you can remove the guitar.

Hurcules guitar hanger $25....Keeping the guitar off the floor stands, not getting knocked over....priceless.

How about a 10 pack of strings. They are on sale at GC for about 20 bucks. 10 sets will last sometime and you will have them handy when you need them. You could also get a play-along dvd, they have many to choose from and once you understand a little bit from the "Getting started" dvd you can practice songs or at least parts of songs.

Gcenter has a "buy a 10 pack of dadarrios and get a free acoustic" deal going on right now.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look into those wall hangers. I know i sound 'cheap' but I just don't have much money right now and looking for bargains (plus, my classical guitar is very light if i want to hang it)

I'm getting the dadarrios, but i don't see that deals with the "acoustic" for free. I'm getting the 10 pack with a free 20 ft. cable.

:D no big. I don't get out so I just order online. I love GC but the sales tax kills me. I now browse the shops with not only free shipping and handling but no sales tax.

I wasn't suggesting you were cheap LVA, none of us have cash to burn. I was merely pointing out, cheap gear can often be a false economy. Anyways... e-bay might be worth a look. I had a quick look' and found some hangers by Hercules going for good prices.

Oh sorry, I didn't mean it that way. I just mean that I'd like to get something good but not terribly expensive. I get the cheap gear = false economy. I learned that the hard way.

Thanks for the suggestions though. Again, sorry. Didn't mean to come off as rude.

Absolutely no need to apologise to me LVA, I took no offence to your reply. You never came across as being rude either :D Like everyone else here, I'm just trying to give you the benefit of my own experience. I learned the hard way too unfortunately, on more than one occasion  But thanks to some people here, I avoided a few too.

Wall hangers may not be a good idea for all new guitarists--although they seem to have appealed to LVA.

They wouldn't to me. I have nowhere to put them, and I'm not into them anyways.

But for others?
Maybe, maybe not.

That's something you'd really need to check.

Failing anything else a giftcard to a guitar store is always a good idea.
I wouldn't turn one down.

Well, I just figured I'd try it. I have a very small room with limited space so I figure I'd give it a shot. Also, I have some Guitar Hero guitars so some cheap ones would be good to hang those up for fun. Since they're very light, I may be able to just put double sided tape on the coffin ones and stick them on the side of my bookcase.

I got two coffin case ones (for the Guitar Hero controllers). I got the Hercules one for my electric should I want to hang it. I figure to have it in tow might not be a bad idea. If I use it fine, if not, well...no big deal.

Wall Hangers are cool. I wouldn't recommend double-sided tape. I use wall hangers at home. Look cool and practical.

I know you need to find the wall studs, so does anyone recommend a good stud finder? (no jokes, please  ) I know there's the 'knocking' technique and the 'look for the electrical socket' technique.

Then again, me with a hammer is just a very dangerous combination.
