My 12 year old son has been wanting me to take him to a "BIG" concert. Any suggestions on who would be "safe" to see? We're both into hard rock and metal. Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, AC/DC, etc. I almost took him to a Motley concert but decided against it wisely. I am not famaliar with a lot of the new bands shows or typical audience and I want something approriate for him and not make either of us feel awkward. The last concert I actually got to see was about 6 years ago, Fuel and Breaking Benjamin. Its time to get back to it and take him along for the ride!

I guess it would depend on what kind of music he likes, it doesnt matter who you see there will allways be some idiots there who dont care about kids having a good time.

My first concert I was 12. It was The Ramones in 94 \m/

But you have to understand people go to a concert to let loose, unwind and have a good time. They shouldn't have to worry about kids, because frankly it isn't a kids environment. And if they are there, realize what you and they are getting into. Depending on the band of course. You aren't gonna see a lot of circle pits at an Eagles show or a lot of drunken debachery at a Taylor Swift gig. So gear the show accordingly.

That said, I recommend Gwar.

I totally get that it isn't a kids environment. Like I said earlier I just have been out of the concert loop for a while and didn't know how some of the current shows are. The Motley concert I mentioned was seen by 2 of my friends and they said they were showing basically porn in the background. Not a problem for me, but I don't want my kid to see it at 12. Anyone seen Def Lep or some of the other classic metal bands lately? I was curious if they were any more tame than they were 20 years ago?
