There are too many to decide on just one that's best so i'll just list the ones i like best from each genre. My opinion of this list could change from day to day.

EarlyRock - Led Zeppelin
Newer Rock - Alter Bridge
Metal - Ac/Dc, Metallica, Black Sabbath
Christian Pop/Rock/Metal - Third Day, Disciple, Casting Crowns, Seventh Day Slummber
Country - Alabama
Bluegrass - Mountain Heart

I love Led Zeppelin. I don't care how much of their stuff was "lifted". They have a lot of brilliant original work as well and they made the stuff they stole, their own LOL.

Three unbelievable musicians and a great singer. They had a magic formula.

No need to apologize. At least you are into to music or else you wouldn't be posting here, so that's a good thing. I shudder to think what the average non-musician kids are listening to these days.
Who is "jls"???

Anyway, my vote goes to The Beatles for best overall band. Their influence goes way beyond measure. But "best of" lists are useless however. Everyone has different likes and dislikes.

edit: I just googled 'jls' .... !!!!!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JLS_(band) Is this who you're talking about?

AC/DC, no bullshit, no politics, no "message", just straight up Rock n Roll. Exactly the way it's supposed to be. 8)

The best and most influential band ever...= THE BEATLES....like it or not.they did almost everything first, even videos!

the four most important and influential and arguably the the best bands ever...IMO

1) THE BEATLES
2) PINK FLOYD
3) LED ZEPPELIN
4) BLACK SABBATH

These are the bands that defined there genres And basically invented everything that you know about guitar and modern rock. :P
