Hmmm...

Jimi Hendrix is my favorite guitarist, but my favorite band would be Led Zeppelin.

That music is truly what rock is about. One of my favorites is Dazed and Confused:

I'd check out some of the bands that actually influenced adema or green day. I mean, everybody has an influence, right?

Ahhh...well, that explains it.

If it's Rock you're into, i'd recommend discovering Led Zeppelin,
Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix Experience, 70's Aerosmith & The Who.

There's SO much great music out there, just waiting for you to find it,
& discovering that stuff for the first time is a truly wonderful experience.
At 13, you have a very long & exciting musical journey ahead of you.

Enjoy the trip.

As for me, i'd probably have to go w/
Led Zeppelin as Best Band Ever.

Its no question the best band ever was the Beatles!!!!!! They influenced eveyone, and i know there was many before them that led to their success but you need to realy listen to all the Beatles music not just the hits that a allways on the radio, probably the most versitile band too.

How could you not mention the Beatles? Their influence was huge on every band that followed. It could be argued that Helter Skelter was a "heavy metal" song back in the day. If you're talking hard rock AC/DC has got to be in the mix as well as Sabbath and Zepplin and how about Blue Cheer?

Pesonally, favorite (best?) bands would be AC/DC, Sabbath as well as solo Ozzy and Dio. GnR, Priest, Maiden. Too many "BESTS" for me to name just one. I love them ALL!
