Well I thing everybody saw it coming. The company that had the Burger King Franchise in Iceland had already earlier this year changed the name and menu of their reasturant. Lyst (the former McDonalds franchise holder) are starting a new chain called Metro instead of the McDonalds.
Because of the current currency and the fact that Lyst had import everyting in for the burgers it just didn't make sense anymore to renew the franchise contract. Instead they are gonna sell burger made of mostly Icelandic materials and save money that would have ended up in Franchise liecenses.

And I can't say that I am going to miss those cheeseburgers from Mickey D.

the coolest ever, NonniG, I read a couple of bytes about the McDonalds in Iceland and heard on radio as well but thought I wouldn't find out the story ever, really, news around the states has been less on factual things and more about hype, ignorance (literally ignoring factual information) and manipulation for the past several months, but, I got the real story!
