Hello everyone.....

This is my first post, on the Fender forums and I would like to say hello to all the fine guys and gals here.
I have been a member for well over a year (yeah a quiet member lol, you think I would have said something by now.)

Anyways, just want to say that, I enjoy reading the forums and all the great and knowledgeable info, which all you fine people have provided.

You all, seem like super great people, with that one passion, you all, have in common, the love of music and the playing and creation of such great music.

I myself am just a beginner and by no means, do I consider myself a player yet, but maybe one day, with a lot of practice and if the neighbours, do not call the noise police, ha ha just kidding , I might be able to carry a tune one day.

I just bought my first Fender Strat, a Highway One , 3 color sunburst, build in 2005 (Serial No Z522....)and sold as a 2006 model, complete with the little 60th anniversary medallion on the back of the head stock.
(I realize it is not the actual "60th anniversary model"), but that my guitar was marketed in that year.
Guitar is in super shape and for $499 Canadian, I could not, as they say,” pass up a good deal"

Do you think I might have GAS? lol.

I am a Quality Inspector by trade, so I love the detail and technical side of anything Fender or guitars in general. I can appreciate the fine and simple details of a well build guitar.

I now have the concern or like many from the past, the question to be answered is....

"What amp do I buy "? I am interested in all styles of music but mostly the clean, blues like style that a Strat can produce.
I thought that maybe a Fender amp might be the way to go, mating up with a Fender guitar. Thoughts ideas?

What do you think folks would be my best route to go with? I have seen, listened to and looked over many amps. I would like to stick to a Fender amp so here are possibly 3 choices I have seen around town.

I like the sound that a tube amp produces…Opinions?

1st.... The Super Champ XD, approx. $355 Canadian.
2nd.....Blues Jr. $599 Canadian.
3rd.....Cyber Deluxe $499 Canadian.

The Cyber Deluxe is brand new old stock, which a dealer has not been able to sell? Is this a good deal and is this a good amp? Does it have any "technical" bugs per say?

The Blues Jr. (being all tube) sounds nice also, and finally the great little Super Champ XD.

So any ideas, suggestion or comments of any kind would be greatly appreciated from you fine folks.

Again hello from the great white north as they say and it has been my pleasure to meet you all.

Also I would welcome any e-mail, so I can talk and perhaps meet new friends. I am open to all guitar/amp/music conversations and topics.

Take care and remember..... Love the passion.... love the music... keep playing!

JASTER

Hello and welcome to the posting side of the forum! As far as to which amp to get it depends on what you plan on doing with it i.e.playing around the house or gigging. From your statement I gather you are just learning and not gigging so I would go with one of the first two you listed. The champ will give you some great tones and the blues jr. too. The blues jr. is a loud amp for 15 watts, so I guess it's up to your needs and environment. I don't know much about the cyber deluxe but maybe someone else does. Good luck and keep posting!

Welcome to the forums Jaster. Sounds like you have some good ideas for amps. I own both the Blues Jr, and a Super Champ XD, as well as others. Fender amps are great with Fender guitars. I really like the Blues Jr. for many applications, but since I dont use alot of effects pedals I really like the Super Champ for playing along with backing tracks due to all the different voicings. Alot of other forumites also like Marshall, Egnater, Peavey, Mesa, and other amps. I think most of us prefer tube amps of one kind or another. Try out lots of them and you'll figure it out.

Thanks guys for your warm welcome.

It gives me something to think about.

Yes the Super Champ XD and the Blues Jr,are probably what I will be considering, since I am just starting out.
I want to invest in a good amp from the start.

Still would like to hear from anyone who has any experience with that older (but brand new) Cyber Deluxe amp.

Again it is my pleasure to meet you all.
You all have a great day and take care.

JASTER :P

Hello back from Manchester UK JASTER, welcome to the forum.
The only tube amp I have at the moment is a Fender BluesDeville, 60 watts of sheer dynamite but it as a volume control, so I don't really have to blow out the windows.
Enjoy yourself here, have fun. 8)

Hello JASTER, welcome aboard. You have earned the privilege to post now. Post often, you'll love it. I read more than I post myself, but both activities are rewarding because of the personal qualities and the knowledge of the fine members of this forum.
Now for the amp I would say to you that you need to try them in a guitar shop. Take an appointment and bring your guitar to road test those amps if you do not want a frustrating surprise the first time you'll plug your new amp at home.
Also, you could try a few pedals while you're at it. The idea is not to buy them now, but sooner or later you'll want to add a few ones and in my opinion, tube amps will have a much more better response with a pedal like a wah for instance. Again, just my opinion but worth a free try. I own and love my regular unmodified stock tolex Blues Junior. It does everything I need from an amp. When I want to jam, I google Blues backing tracks in whatever tuning I need and here we go. I never tried the Cyber Deluxe but I tried the Super Champ in a guitar shop. A fine amp also.
Good luck in your search and keep us posted about your choices. :)
Claude.

Hi Miami Mike

Sure Mike no problem, but be for warned ,I am new and will be taking lessons, one day soon. I am sure that right now, I would sound like, a scared cat with its tail, caught in a fence.

You know the kind of sound that makes the grass on your front lawn die or your cat or dog leave the room.

Take care :)

JASTER

Hey JASTER, you'll have to come up to Manchester next time. I'll take you over to Liverpool to see the Cavern Club.
We might just catch that group that keeps playing there. What are they called?.......The Beatles?
Have a good night. :D
