Any experience with this?

Seems a bit pricey, but is it worth it?

I'm having a better time with Vista on my comp. since I installed a dock, expose`, widgets, and a OS X-style background...

But whad'ya guys think?

Well, "I'm having a better time on my comp since I have a dock, expose, widgets and an OS X-style background" since I'm actually using a Mac :) :D

Lucky son-of-a-%$^@!!!

Yeah, I could've gotten one, my dad couldn't justify it. I'm sort of glad we didn't get one, because my speakers aren't connectable via USB, and the mac mini has only USB ports for connecting peripherals (besides displays). But then we probably could've spent 20-50 bucks on some speakers with USB connectors.

Now... only to make OS X not proprietary...

But if I happen across a pot of gold at the other side of the rainbow, I could get a macbook off ebay or amazon.

But if not, all I have to do is survive to my Junior year lol.

Seems to me upgrading the OS always leads to misery, one way or another.

Unlike many others my newish computer with Vista on it seems to be behaving fairly well. And the other one with XP never puts a foot wrong.

So I'll stick with what I've got till there's a pressing reason to change!

Luddite? Me...?

The IT guys where I work have been beating on a beta copy on two test machines and they like it so far. Even so, I'd wait until SP1 comes out. It is probably inevitable that the general public and hackers will find some issues that approved beta testers and QA people didn't.

But from what I've heard so far, I'm 99% sure I'll buy it when I can get the SP1 version.

Yeah, me too. As long as you got enough RAM, it seems to work quite well ... at least for me.

Hmmmm. I have a macmini, macbook, iMac, and a macbook pro. The macmini has 5 usb ports, one firewire 800 port, audio out, mic in/line in, DVI...etc.

If you are starting out a Mac, the Macmini is the way to go for only $599, some online sites have it for $499. Since, you are making your PC like a Mac, might as well get the real deal.

I have both platforms, Windows Vista, and Macs as I need to have both for my job. So, between the two, I always go with Macs

Here is the specs for the Macmini.

Me too. Never had too many problems with Vista except my old printer. After I bought a new printer, no more issues.

When computers were somewhat a new thing, I remember that I ran out, every time a faster modem came out, or a new operating system came out. Now....... as long as the operating system is not completely obsolete, I don't rush out and change (mostly for the "new look"), just for the sake of changing. I'm currently using Windows Vista, and I have no problems at all. It's the most stable OS I've had. I've heard a lot of knocking of Vista, but I love it. So........I don't plan on upgrading, until I need a whole new computer.Besides.......I've done the upgrading the OS on a computer, and it's not all that fun.......drivers, reloading programs, files, etc.

I think a lot of people feel the same way as I do. They days of standing in huge lines at Midnight to be the first in line to buy a copy of the new OS are no longer for a lot of people.

I favor OS, I've never had a problem with it, my mac either. Can't say the same for my wifes computer (pc with Vista) which has had many a problem.

We checked with the Sony site, and our Viao desktop w/XP is not upgrade worthy. Good news is it's built like a brick out house and runs just fine. So, with that in mind, the thought is to kick up the ram, put in a second hard drive and wait for Windows 7 SP 3. By then Windows 8 should be off the drawing board and Blue Ray everything may even be the standard.
Like treating the old guitar to a set-up and a new case, some times thats all it takes.
Cheers,
John.E
