All my friends tell me how they are having to cut back on things at thier work now. One friend has had to take 3 weeks of unpaid time off before Dec 31 this year, and cut down to 4 workdays a week. Another has had any overtime cut, and has had to take a 10% pay cut, and I have had all my overtime taken away, I'm being sent home early daily if the work load slows down, and I have to fill out a requisition for everything from TP to pencils that I need at work. The end result is my pay being cut about 10 to 15% a week, and that makes it harder to buy my gear I want. How are things aon your job?

Just be thankful to have a job. :) My Dad's been laid off for about three months now, and it looks like it's going to be sometime in January before something opens up.

It's weird. The Navy is kicking people out for being overweight now, and cutting the E7-E9 ranks like crazy, but ye still handing out bonuses like crazy to those that are here o_O

Masterhacker, can you use your forced time off to start your own enterprize?
One of the hip things about self employment is that you can work one third of the time, and still make the same money! Plus, everything is a write off.
So, you'll probably pay less in taxes.
That idea for a business that God/universe/Great Spirit, whatever, put into your head....
Might be time to act on it.

My previous employer in Austin, TX cut back so much, I ended up without a job last February ... after 15 years. It worked out, though. I found a new job up here near Pittsburgh, and the new employer picked up the tab to move my family. Just don't tell any body that I don't root for the Steelers ... that does not go over very well up here ...

Pay freeze even though our salaries suck anyway. More work, less pay.

But at least I got a job. Most of my former coworkers couldn't even find a job.

Notice the managers that screwed everything up are not the ones losing their jobs or being put in jail. Instead they are being bailed out and supported by our tax dollars.

Economists say we won't get our jobs back until 2012.

Wonder why they picked that date?

Well to start with they are sending all the product we make to Meaico. I forgot to mention I work in the Automotive Industry. On or about Dec 4 there will be a huge lay off. So I'll be out of work. On the positive side more time to play my music.

From 30 installers to 6. Pay cut in 1/2. I'm on pace to make $8,000 this year (outside of unemployment), so annual is extremely low. But at least I still have a job..

I took a 10% pay cut the first of the year and all of our hourly employees took a double hit. A 10% cut, and reduced hours. :?
