When they listed his equipment I could have sworn he uses some MIM strats. I'll check again tonight, and retract if I'm wrong.

Hi jmr986: it certainly does look like a black plastic trussrod entry on his Polka Dot Strat in kk5fe's photos (above), doesn't it?

Cheers - C

Ceri, through the magic of photoshop, I was able to crop and blow up just the headstock a bit. It looks like its his Buddy Guy signature strat. I dont know where those are made....

texasguitarslinger, here is a photo of Guitar Shorty I took at the same festival. He played a version of Hey Joe that was out of this world! Close your eyes, and you would swear it was Hendrix!

kk5fe, have you heard texasguitarslinger play her guitar before? She has a natural talent IMO. She has only been playing blues for a year or so and guitar not much longer. Here is a clip of her playing in The King of Blues contest.

No, I hadnt seen that before! Wow! Did I say Wow? Very nice for sure! Great sound and playing..... I'm impressed. I've been in that GC before BTW. The company I work for has an office about 10 miles from there. When I go to that office, I always make it a point to visit.

and only playing a little over a year..... ouch... even more salt in the wound... like I said before, I take better photos than I play the guitar and I've been playing for.... uh... well a lot longer than a year!

Thanks ya'll. :D I've actually been playing guitar for four years as of this month (October of 2005 is when I started). This Thanksgiving marks one year of the blues. Last Thanksgiving I was struggling through the intro of Texas Flood. I still struggle through that song come to think of it.

This was the video of me at the finals, I wasn't as scared as I was in the earlier video and it sounds a little cleaner. I didn't make it but I had a ton of fun and I learned quite a bit from it. :)

Hi kk5fe: hey, thank you for that; much obliged. :D

I stand to be corrected, but to my eye it looks like Buddy's cream Strat has a walnut MIA entry hole while the polka dot one has a black plastic MIM hole.

As you've shown, they both carry his sig at the top of the headstock so are both Signature models. The cream one is a version of the MIA currently in the catalog (here, though different pups: http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... 0107802803 ).

If my faulty memory has it right there have been both MIM and MIA versions of the polka dot. What is surprising is that in your pics he seems to be playing the MIM one - and if that don't set the cat amongst the pigeons round here I don't know what will!

Take cover...

Cheers - C

I don't see what the big deal is about Buddy playing a MIM Strat is. They're good guitars, and nothing that a pro should be ashamed of. If anything, it's totally cool that Buddy Guy would play a guitar that's just a rung up the ladder from my Fender. :D

That kinda was my point. It's not about who has the most expensive axe. Here you have this Blues legend playing a guitar that most people can actually afford! The fact that he has a MIM in the quiver tells you something about that guitar. It's all about the musician not necessarily the equipment.

That is a very true statement! :) This is a photo I took of Robert Belfour playing a Danelectro. He made that thing sing! Of course it could be a vintage guitar..... I'm not sure it wasnt modified though. Its setup like a strat with three single coil pups but four volume/tone knobs and a strat style tremelo. Also has two amp jacks..... dunno... :?
(by the way, I hope you dont mind me stuffing my photos down your throats.... :( )
