Went to the all access workshop at Sweetwater last night that featured Greg Koch. He truly is pure entertainment above and beyond being a master of the guitar. He took questions from the audience, gave pointers on various styles, and demonstrated his amazing talent. If he wasn't such a great player he could have easily been a comedian. He really gave the Fender Custom Shop Tele a workout. He didn't bring his own gear, so Sweetwater provided a beautiful orange CS Tele, a Blues Deluxe amp and a couple of pedals. Only problem Greg had was the guitar comes with 9's and with the workout he gives the guitar they just would not stay in tune for very long. Sweetwater also provided a Planet Waves tuner he kept attached to the headstock to help him keep it tuned. He said it was a great guitar, but just needed to be strung with 11's and setup for him. The performance theater at Sweetwater is state of the art and a great place to attend these free workshops. For those of you interested in acoustic guitars master luthier Ren Ferguson will be there for the next free workshop on 10/28. If any of you ever get the chance to attend one of the workshops I highly recommend going.

I'm jealous, it would be awesome to attend but they're too far away. Glad you had a good time though.

Randy that had to be a great time. I know what you mean about his sense of humor as he is on funny guy. Even on his dvds you can see the band members cracking up in the background when he delivers one of his zings. The guy is a phenomenal player and if you can find it I would recommend his Guitar Gristle dvd that is a breakdown of techniques he uses on 6 originals of his own which also includes live in the studio performances. Fender just put out Strats and Teles of his Signature axes but only 10 of each? When I saw the price all I could say was ZOIKS. lol That is a song of his.

I've seen him a few times and he seems to get better each time I see him, not to mention that he's quite a character...a hoot...but killer chops!

Yeah Mike,
He is definitely one of those rare performers who makes you stand up and take notice.
