Dickie Peterson, bassist and vocalist for one of the unsung heroes of heavy rock/metal, and the first band to ever use a wall or Marshall stacks as a backline, died last week....

About 1974, Dickie and his brother rented a house in Alto Capistrano, in Orange County, Ca. I went over and played a little guitar. They giged in the area with a drummer. I saw them play at a theatre in Laguna Beach with other bands.

Dixie was easily the best of the band. He played very solid bass while holding down lead vocals. He played a P-bass and would pound the body of the bass with his right fist at the back/top area of the body. He got his "note" out of it and I thought he did it with great effect.

He was all about rock and roll. Anything else that happened was just something that needed to be delt with before you got back to what was important...rock and roll. He was a very down to earth human being.

I remeber his brother had an all aluminum guitar. I played it. I think it was made in Florida.
