Has anyone seen Wrong Turn? That was a good one I almost forgot about.

Yes - That was a good movie. Now that I live in Pennsylvania, I think about that movie every time I take my father-in-law to play poker in West Virginia...

Ah, keeping your eyes in the rearview mirror for that old truck with the evil sounding horn.

Oh man, I loooove Young Frankenstein (or Frahkensteen).
"Sedagive????" That line still makes me laugh terribly.

Rocky Horror Picture Show is cool too. Something about Tim Curry in drag.... that 'sweet transvestite.'

I have a fondness for the classics--The Mummy, Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man, heck even Abbot and Costello meet the Wolfman.

"When the moon is full, I turn into a wolf."
"Yeah, so do 20 million other guys."

Not sure of the direct quote, but it's gist of it.

Another more recent good horror movie - 13 Ghosts.

Two more great Russian horror films:

Night Watch (Ночной Дозор) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMHQsjgQDrA

and its sequel

Day Watch (Дневной Дозор) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtVD97ss7rU

And, yes, I watch plenty of English-language films as well. I just like to share my love of foreign cinema. 8)

Now I've been a longtime fan of nightwatch and daywatch. Nightwatch more so. Its the whole subtitles thing dragging me into the plot again.

I wouldnt have considered them horror films though, more fantasy.

Isnt the 3rd part of the story out yet?

Some of the Stephen King flicks have been pretty horrorful. I can't think of the name, but the one about the giant rats in the old factory and some kind of huge monster in the walls was a thriller.

Now I'm a huge King fan but for the life of me cant recall the name of that book. I'm eagerly awaiting a film adaption of his Dark Tower series, but its goning to need to be around 20 odd films to get it right.

I strongly recommend two of his later books, Cell and Duma Key. Duma Key in particular is quite spooky. Cell on the other hand is like a action film put onto paper. I recently read From a Buick8. Thats a good tale but takes some time to get under your skin, long after I finished reading anyway.

Funnily enough I prefer his tales of day to day life far more than horror. Hearts in Atlantis remains my alltime fave. The best part of Dreamcatcher too, though that book reaches a far higher critical mass in a short space of time and just stays there.

Everything I've read says that Dusk Watch (Сумеречный Дозор) is on hold and may in fact never be made.

And you're right. These films do defy classification. I always describe them as vampire films crossed with The Matrix and Ghostbusters. But they're scary and dark enough to fit well with Halloween.

Now that would be a shame. That story needs ending. Surely they've made enough to warrant doing it. Nightwatch was a big thing over here when it came out.
