Okay, I made my choice.

I went with the coffin case.

I found another gig bag I had with lots of padding so didn't want to get another one.

The site I went to had free shipping and I could get a rebate from my credit card.

Then, no sales tax. Wheeeeeee.

Also, I'm an artist and I want to decorate the holy hell out of it.

Maybe not the most practical thing, but I'm not really going to take the guitar out per se. I'm using it more as a decorative piece or if I do travel with it, it'll be a conversation piece. It was more than the musician's friend hard case, but I can do more artistic things with this one. Again, not practical, but hey, when I get it into my head to be creative, I go for it.

This was a podium that I decorated with acrylics, so want to do something like this (not Twilight per se) with my case:

I can see why you went with the Coffin Case. When you get finished with decorating it, I would be interested in seeing the finished product.

I'll post pics. Now I have to see what kind of paint works with vinyl. I'm hoping acrylics might do the trick. I have lots of black, white, red, and green.

The Musician's Gear cases are a good value for the dollar (and seriously once you pass puberty coffin cases are just ridiculous).

I suggest staying away from soft cases as your primary case. They only offer protection from scratches. As far as real protection for your guitar, they are pretty useless.

Unfortunately, I'm well past it anyway. LOL

I know the Musician's Gear is more 'practical,' but I couldn't pass up a chance to decorate and make something my own. If I live to be 100 years old, I'll still be a goth type. (I'm like Abby from NCIS--happy goth) I'll probably get a Musician's gear case down the road when I bang the hell out of this one and get another guitar. I'm not going to travel much with it anyway.

btw, one of my fave bands is 69 eyes and, like me, poke fun at the genre anyway. So, I'm just continuing my fun.

EDIT: I plan on doing a Hamlet theme with it, so the coffin would be great symbolically with tragedy and death anyhow.

Groovy! My son has a coffin case for his Epi Goth LP. They are good solid cases just, well . . . . coffin shaped!

Post up some pix once you get it decorated. The Hamlet theme sounds cool, you might also consider an Edgar Allen Poe theme.

I was thinking of Poe myself being an absolute Poe nut. But I do love Hamlet because there's a guitar reference in there that one of the board members brought up. :)

I'll post once I get it and decorate it.

I'm still thinking if I should use paint or design it on the computer and use sticker paper.

A charcoal briquette wrapped in a paper towel and tossed in the case for a few days is good for getting rid of the smell.
