I break the occasional small E string during string bends. Is there a source for buying individual strings? Thanks.

Here is one place I found with Google. There are others. Hope this helps.

Did you try your local shop? I usually go to Sam Ash or Guitar Center here in PA. I don't know if they sell them single, but there's a place called George's Music that does. Perhaps there's a small shop that's local to you.

If not, then yeah... try the Internet I guess.

I keep a few extra singles on hand to replace broken lighter strings. I get mine at local music stores, but I think you can get them almost anywhere.

I've never been to a guitar shop yet that didn't sell individual strings. I run 10's and routinely swap the .046 to a .049 on one of my Strats that I use mostly for drop D stuff. I also keep a supply of wound .017's on hand for one guitar that I string it with. I know players that buy strings individually as a practice and it's only about a buck or two more expensive for a set. They get their own custom gauges that way. You have to like D'Addarios and Ernie Balls cuz that's what they'll stock but lots of folks do like 'em. Any music store should sell singles.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I also have never seen a store that did not carry single strings. I always purchase 2 extra E and B strings and 1 G when I buy strings as nothing is a bigger bummer than breaking a string on a new set and having to open another fresh pack to take a string. String breakage should happen once in a blue moon. If this is happening on a steady basis check your saddles out for any notches or burs.

Hi RudyH: in my part of the world there are several websites that specialize in selling guitar strings at good prices for bulk orders. They all offer singles, particularly D'Addarios and Ernie Balls. I'm sure there must be such websites where you are too.

'Nother tip: packs of Rotosound strings always contain an extra top string at no additional price.

Cheers - C
