I have good equipment, an American Stratocaster and a Mesa 5:25 amp. It sounds best when I turn up the volume but cannot always do that because it would distrub my family too much. I understand that distortion and overdrive pedals are made partly for the purpose of improving tone at low volumes. Can you recommend whether such a pedal will give me a good creamy blues tone when played at low volumes?

Can you offer any other recommendations?

Thanks.

check out the vox valtronics amps. I have one and its excellent for practicing. its an amp modeler so you will have a range of usable tones and sounds and the best thing is it sounds great at low volumes.

Hello Rudyh,

Those 5:25 can be 5 or 25 watts. Played at the 5watt
setting they sound pretty good to me and gives a good tone
Yeah its still loud but the 25 setting will get you a eviction notice.

Cheers.
