Hey guys!

I started to change my strings in three days. It costs me lot of money. So do you have any advice for me? I'm using dunlop .10 strings (end is .46). Should I use .11? I have used for a while and I liked it. Does it will effect the life of the strings?

Thanks for your reply!!!

I don't understand this Ali, are you saying you're changing your strings every three days?
Wipe them with a cloth every time you've finished playing, they should last for weeks.
I use 009-042 and they are good for a about a month. Longer if I'm not doing anything in particular. D'Addario are what I use.
Some people sweat more than others and there are natural skin oils but three days is not right.
I might have mis-read your problem.
Cheers Ali,

Hi Ali,
I wipe my strings every time I finish playing, even if it's just for a few minutes. Each string individually and underneath don't forget, wipe down the fretboard and always make sure your hands are clean.
You're strings will last much longer.
All the best Ali.
Rhumba :D

I use Dean Markley 9-42 Light strings. I play out one night, maybe two times a week, and I use Fast Fret on them to keep them bright. I do change them when I notice I'm tuning them more often, or when they sound dead, which is usually every two weeks.

like what's been said. Wash your hands before you play, wait about 5 minutes for your skin to dry (wet calluses will come off when you're playing) play your guitar, wipe the strings down tops and bottoms (don't forget to wipe your bridge and the screws where your hand sits as well, your sweat will rust those out.)

and you should be good.

Hi Ali,it may help to keep a clean damp cloth and a clean dry towel handy when you have to play for a long period. My hands sweat profusely and that works for me.just periodicly give your hands a wipe and dry.

Ali,

I use Fender 9's and 10's. My usual guitar string life is about a month. Wash your hands before playing. Always ensure that you wipe the strings off after playing. I also use a product called Fast Fret after wiping them down.

Part of your problem may also be the climate where you live and how you store your guitar when not playing.

Try washing you hands before you play, wipe down the strings after you play, and maybe try a different brand of strings.

I really don't see any reason for slacking the strings.

I've never heard of changing every three days. I sweat a lot too, But I usually wash my hands before I start, and if they get sweaty enough to feel sticky.........I'll take a break and wash them again. and then I wash them at the end before I wipe down the guitar, strings, etc. I always have "sweat rags" available, which are actually just old T-shirts that I save just for that purpose. And I do wipe the neck and strings down from time to time while I'm playing.

Also.......when I'm just practicing or jamming with a friend and it's all informal (no gig), I get a 20 inch fan, point it at me, and have it blowing on me the whole time. Really helps a lot with the sweat, and feels really good.

Thanks everybody to help me about my problem. I think that real thing is about the place I put my guitar when I'm not playing. I'm gonna put it on the case.

Thanks :D
