I got as far as pulling out the chasis but it seems to get stuck half way, any ideas? Do I need to take off anything from underneath the chasis? I am trying to work out how to dismantle this amp so when I order a new speaker and/or tubes I can replace them myself rather than paying a shop to do so.

The Champ 600 chasis is a VERY tight fit. I assume you took all 4 screws out (2 in the chasis face and 2 on the side) and unplugged the speaker. I had to really use some muscle to pull the chasis out of my Champ 600, and on the way out it snagged and ripped some of the shielding foil affixed to the insides of the cabinet. So be careful! Luckily it was an easy fix. Good luck.

p.s. There is no need to pull the chasis to replace the tubes.

Many (maybe almost all) current production line amps have some sort of sheilding to keep out electrical interference static and other noises. Just like many of Fender's modern guitars have sheilding paint inside the control and pickup cavities to help reduce noise.
